Had ants in my package!!!
I didn't get my 5 lb Rhee Chun Rice on Amazon. I got it from my local Asian grocery store in Bloomington, IN but I can't find the official site for Rhee Chun so I'll post my review here. (Sorry Amazon!) The packaging is brand new for sure. When I first washed the rice, some brown bits floated in the water. I assumed it was leftover chaff and dumped out the water with the brown bits. I had transferred the rice from the bag to a sealed tupperware since the first time I've had it and stored it in a cabinet with my other types of rice. Two weeks later, when I took some this rice out and washed it, ANTS floated in the water!!! I'm guessing the brown bits I saw previously were very young ants or their eggs and two weeks later they've grown into adult ants. EWWWWW. My other types of rice I stored in the same cabinet were fine so the ants must've come from the manufacturer. I'm super grossed out now. I'm switching to Calrose rice from now on.
