Boooo! Cliffhanger ending
Besides the cliffhanger ending (which I hate!), the author needs to study the correct use of commas. There are dozens of commas tossed in willy-nilly which makes for disjointed reading. "Dougal came to see me, today." He stopped for gas, first." "I could care less, why." (Besides the incorrect comma here, "I could care less" means the speaker still has some interest in the matter.)Also, I found the angst between not one but two couples boring and predictable.

Cliffhanger
Good book, except I've been deceived. No real closure, a cliffhanger ending so the author can make more money. Not right to treat customers this way. I won't buy the other two.

This is a serail -the story doesn't end in this book, you won't know who did it. If you want to read the ending you have to order at least two more books! I got the first one free: ordered the second; I refuse to order the third. RIP OFF!

Know before you start: This is actually just part one
Be forewarned, if this author ever intends to complete this mystery of murdered librarians, he certainly didn't do so here. In other words, this book does not conclude. It just stops. Then, the brief sample of the next book's opening pages refers back to this book. Not a bad writer and some character development as well - but what's the point if the mystery isn't resolved and you don't know what's going to become of the characters after (if ever) this plot is resolved. . . Feels like a betrayal not to have been informed, in advance, that this is not a complete book.

Don't Buy This Book! Waste!
I should have read the reviews before I downloaded this free book. My thought at the time was that if this was a good book I would buy the rest of the series in Paperback & perhaps invest in her other Series. But, after reading this 'book' I decided it isn't worth my time or my money. There are lots of great Series out where each book can be a standalone or part of the series. Those are the best ones in my opinion. This is not one of those. This book was a waste of time. Granted the plot is alright. Would have been better if it didn't end in a cliffhanger. Too many loose ends. Book is too short for this type of story.Buried (Twisted Cedar Mysteries Book 1);Kindle Price: $0.00Paperback: $9.99Pages: 254Publication Date: October 25, 2012Forgotten (Twisted Cedar Mysteries Book 2):Kindle: $4.99Paperback: $9.99Pages: 242Publication Date: May 26, 2016Exposed (Twisted Cedar Mysteries Book 3):Kindle: $4.99Paperback: $28.67Pages: 210Publication Date: February 25, 2016Total pages: 706Total Kindle: $9.98Total Paperback: $48.65I don't know about you but looking at the facts I put up, I wouldn't want to pay almost $50 for three separate books that can't be considered stand alone. If you look at the info above you will notice that each book has less pages than the previous one. Why? No clue. Perhaps it is because the author has several series going? I fear that her other series are probably like this one with cliffhangers until the last book. I won't buy them either.I agree with other reviewers that say that this is rude to their customers & a tricky way to get their readers to purchase the rest of the Series. It is truly an underhanded despicable way of writing. Now, don't get me wrong, I've read books that say if you want to find out more about other characters then you should buy the other book. Those are complete stories with no cliffhangers.Where is the closure? Where is that good feeling that the bad guy lost & the good guys win? Not here. I was left sorely disappointed and full of disgust.Note to author: Combine these three short stories into one full book. Not a three book special. A real 706 paged novel. Then, I might consider buying this.

Stupid ending. four women strangled
Stupid ending. four women strangled, followed them then all of a sudden "Now go write the book." It wasn't solved. I refuse to call it a cliff-hanger. Just an unfinished book.

Dreaded cliff-hanger, Miata's do not have backseats.
Dreaded cliff-hanger. Wait to purchase as a bundle, the series may be complete stories.Interesting, easy to follow storyline, believable characters with distinct personalities and great dialogue.Miata's do not have backseats.Jamie lowered the roof on her Miata and with the store manager’s help, crammed the chairs into the back seat, the cushions in the trunk. No interest in re-reading this story. I would be interested in other works if they are stand-alones, not the despised cliff-hangers.Remember this is my personal opinion on cliff-hangers and does not reflect on the author.

Deep and dark history
Librarians, small towns, the ocean and decades of mysterious happenings including murders; what could be more perfect for a mystery series? This was our monthly pick for The Chatty Southern Bookworms and it’s was an absolute perfect one! I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what was happening!Inside we meet Dougal, his sister Jamie, Charlotte the librarian, Wade the sheriff and Kyle, Jamie’s fiancé and then husband. So many secrets and a deep rooted past exist for these characters but, so much is in store for them in the future, as well.Dead librarians and a missing ex wife to Kyle, Dougal is a famed author and comes back to his hometown to investigate on these dead librarians, what do they all have in common?I thoroughly recommend this book!

Half-book
I quite enjoyed this well-written story, but I was so disappointed when I reached the end - and found it wasn't. Obviously this is a device to encourage the reader to buy part two, but it annoyed me so much I refuse to!

Misleading title
I only downloaded this (admittedly as a free book) because the title implied that it would stand alone -imagine if midsomer murders had just been one long cliffhanger? I feel that there is an element of dishonesty in publishing books in this way that is a growing trend thanks to ebooks.Despite this I enjoyed the writing and the story, and although I'd guessed almost all of the outcomes I enjoyed how the story was developing, but I won't be buying any more books in the series. This would have made a brilliant 400 page page-turner or even a two-book series, but instead it's likely to be a watered down long-winded disappointment (especially as the clues are obvious enough to guess all of the who what and why's)

Just about a 3
I got to the end - but was really miffed to find that it didn't pull all the threads together. Yes, I know it's a trilogy, but that doesn't mean it can't be a stand alone book on its own.I'm also REALLY surprised to find the author is a woman. The main character turns to the woman he's recently made love to and tells her that she's got "nice t***". For me any man that said that would be out the door and not invited back - so was very surprised to have a female author think that (1) it was the right thing for the character to say and (2) to not have the woman react to it at all.Very disappointed and won't be reading book 2, I'm afraid.

Good read & I'm going to read the other two books
I got this first book free from kindle, and like the other reviewer I'm going to buy the other two books. The story is complete in itself, but I want to find out what happens in the sequel. I did work out who dunnit and why but there was a twist right at the end that I wasn't expecting. I love reading detectivey type stories, as long as their are not pages of sex or graphic violence, which I think are introduced purely by authors who cannot write a good book. This author can write a good book without bringing in gratuitous sex and violence. The mention of lovemaking isn't page after steamy page of sex which would have put me right off, its just used as part of a developing relationship.

Thanks God this book was free
Oh dear what an awful read and just when you think it was over, you are prompted to buy the next book in the sequel. Err no thank you very much even if this was free again. So predictive, no gripping suspense and very utterly boring. The hard cold guy who falls in love, digging a body buried mammoth years ago and a sister who married the wrong guy despite advice from that same estranged brother. Why did I read it till the end my wife asked? Well, there's always hope something is going to happen but nope, you just get asked to buy the other book to know what happens in the end. As if.. I already know what's going to happen as nothing in this book is left to guess work. I am sure Carmichael has writing talent but please do not put that book in crime and thriller it is more Mills and Boons.
