PLACE TO CALL HOME: SEASON 3

Excellent Series; Storyline, Acting, Character Development, Scenery, and Set Styling/Wardrobes, Etc. Season FOUR PLEASE
This may be one of the best series I've seen on a subscription network (Amazon and Acorn). I'm not sure why others are saying they've only seen 3 or 4 episodes on Season 3 when all ten are here on Amazon via Acorn. Just watched episode 10 and [*SPOILERS] of course it was an all out fire works ending - leaving us to wonder if Elizabeth will survive her heart attack (who has gone from being a bullying battle axe in season 1 to an admirable and even lovable character by Seasons 2 & 3) to finally find real 'romantic' happiness. Whether Gino's pride will be able to tolerate Anna's success as a writer, will Sarah lose her baby after drinking Doris's tonic (that apparently has been laced with rat poison by the monstrously evil Regina), and, will Livvy seek out the rogue artist she had the tempestuous fling with? Will James search for her and baby George or turn back to his new friend/lover Doctor? Will the pompous, narcissistic, asinine Sir Richard, ever have to pay for raping Carolyn. Will she and Jack survive this trauma and, will Jack be persecuted for trying to save the young girl who died from the results of a butcher abortionist? And perhaps the biggest question of all; will Sarah and George ever rekindle their deep love with the wicked Regina between them? For those of you who are interested, Season 4 has been given a green light and is scheduled to resume sometime this year (2016). You can google it and find several sites that state that this. [...]We can conclude at least, that Sarah and George somehow get together from the wonderful opening scene (was it Season 2 or 3???) where we are brought forward to the present - or at least 50 years to the 21st Century, to see Sarah as a very old woman being interviewed in the beautiful study of the Bligh Mansion, by Livvy's grand daughter (? after all, she's played by Arianwen Parkes-Lockwood, the same actress who plays Olivia Bligh in the 1950's). Producers, PLEASE don't take forever to produce this next season as I've just found out I have a rare cancer in stage 4 =( and, have had to wait almost 3 months to start treatments. This series has helped me to find a respite from the pain and worries (thank you).As a few mentioned here, I'm NOT crazy about having to pay extra to Acorn to watch this 5 star program at a decent price nor that Amazon is providing less and less programs to those of us who have paid for the yearly Prime membership. I will be hoping and watching for Season 4 of "A Place To Call Home."

Excellent, well acted series ~ Fills the Downton Abbey void ~ 5 stars
Admittedly, this isn't the kind of show that I like. With that said, my wife thinks it's wonderful, and it fills the void she had when Downton Abbey came to an end. As a matter of fact, in her opinion, it's as good as that show.According to her, this series is more like a soap opera than anything else. With that said, it's a great soap opera and the issues that are addressed in the series are relevant and powerful. This is a period drama, taking place in Australia during the early to mid 1950's. It addresses a wide range of issues, ranging from lingering post-war anti-semitism, to many of the same social issues that are relevant today. The acting is first rate, and the series is well written. My wife has thoroughly enjoyed watching every available episode of this show, and is always waiting in anticipation for the availability of the next season. She finds herself heavily immersed into the characters, and thinks that the moral and social issues that this show evolves around, are handled in an exceptionally stimulating way.

Just signed up for Acorn TV and am I ever glad I picked this show as the first one to watch! I devoured all 3 seasons in the last few days. It started off a tad predictable and slow, but give it a few episodes and you'll be hooked. The entire cast is incredibly good, and the episodes are shot in a cinematic style that is gorgeous. My only quibble is that Amazon has the incorrect version of the last episode of season 2. There were two different versions shot of the last episode, one being a series finale (at the time it had been decided the series was not going to be renewed, which was then changed) and the other that lead to season 3. Amazon is showing the series finale version and not the correct one. But the first episode of the 3rd season goes over briefly what we missed out on. Hope every show on Acorn is this good.

This is the BEST melodrama I have seen in 20 years
This is the BEST melodrama I have seen in 20 years. I am totally addicted to all of the characters, the secrets, the lies, the loves lost and gained! Excellent acting with a superb cast. Excellent writing. Not sappy. Poor Elizabeth trying to hold the family together! I hope she can crawl to her purse and find her nitro pills and go on that trip with her sweet boyfriend! Why can't regina fall in a hole somewhere on the ranch? I am so happy for James and his great new love. This show has it ALL!! Please come back with season 4! I don't mind paying for the episodes it is cheaper than going to a movie and dinner. Sir Richard, you are a cad! You had better watch your back when Jack gets a hold of you!! Sarah, some day, I know you will find joy again!

Wonderful series
We had watched the first 2 series of A Place to Call Home on Amazon Prime and loved every episode. Unfortunately Prime didn’t show Episodes 3 & 4 so we bought the two series , which was absolutely delightful It’s based in Australia and just so easy to watch and enjoy. Having now finished series 5 & 6 we were very sad when it finally ended. I would recommend it to anyone - the acting is great and the settings just wonderful.

Good price and good quality
Great price to be able to finish watching a series. After watching series 1 and 2 on Amazon prime, very disappointed to find you have to purchase series 3 and 4. But found this at such a good price, and the DVDs are of good quality, especially as they are pre used.

Very entertaining, does not quite keep pace with the previous seasons
The Season 3 of "A Place to Call Home" although very entertaining, does not quite keep pace with the previous seasons. Hopefully with the final (?) season to be broadcast in Sept. 2016 the story line will return to the engaging pace of the first two seasons. Possibly this is because the series was not renewed initially after Season 2 and there seems to a certain element of "catch up" as they proceded with the continuation of the series with this Season 3. All in all a great series and hopefully Season 4 will return with the engaging pace of the initial two seasons.
