A servants heart unfolds
I had the pleasure of hearing Pator Carter speak at my church. In fact, it was immediately after he recconected with someone he spoke about in the book, thanks to his wife. So that's how I came across this great read.Anyhow, it is a very insightful book. He did very well to be completely honest about his experiences. I truely appreciate his candor. The best way to better understand the world is by studying others experiences. It is especially heart warming to read about how God can turn something so ugly and horrible into a somewhat silent ministry. When we walk with Jesus others can't help but want to join us. God is good.

A page-turner and an inspiring Christian novel
Rev. Timothy Carter is a man with an amazing life story of working as Texas prison guard for twenty years and later becoming a Reverend in the Lutheran Church. He also has an incredible ability to write it in a way that we can all live his life story with him. Rev. Carter creates a world where the reader becomes a prison guard with him, living his life and death decisions all through the lens of God’s word. He gives everyone a better understanding of death row by helping us live as a member of the death squad, the guards who are chosen to work on the execution team at the “The Walls” prison unit in Huntsville, Texas. As a former member of the death squad, he gives a behind the scenes look at death row, its affect on the prisoner, the victim’s family and the prisoner’s family, and how Carter worked to find and become closer to God in this world. If you want an exciting page-turner that informs, enlightens and helps you grow as a Christian, this is the book for you.

Will transform your thinking
This book is written almost as those he is having a conversation with you. No high powered theological language. It proves that is not necessary in order to convey the message of scripture and of salvation in Christ. I received a copy of this book as a gift from a member of the congregation he serves and was so impressed that I purchased additional copies from Amazon in order to share. I think this book is so insightful on many levels and it certainly may me think in a different way about execution. In addition, his transformation from a young man who didn't act much different from the inmates he was charged with to a man maturing under the guidance of the Holy Spirit is a lesson for everyone. I find it very powerful in many ways and highly recommend it.

A must read for peace officers, those that have suffered incredible loss to violence, and those whose lives have checkered lives and questions of self worth.
While this book is a testimony of God's work through the eyes of Timothy Carter in his decades of work on death row and throughout the Texas State Penitentiary, it's lessons are invaluable to all seeking to follow God's will for our lives.

Great book
This book was eye opening! As a Prison Ministry volunteer it encouraged me to keep answering the call to serve the incarcerated. As a family member of a wolf, this book has encouraged me to trust that God is in full control.
