I recently tried out a flex pen I found secondhand and really loved how it made my handwriting look. When I used that one up, I ordered this set. However, the very first pen I pulled out exploded all over my hands after using it only twice. All I did was jot down some quick to-do lists. The last flex pen I had worked beautifully for entire journal entries. I’m not sure why this brand new pen couldn’t hold up to the one I bought for .10 at an art re-use store, but it’s disappointing given that I did pay full price this time! 3 stars bc I still have hope that this was a fluke! EDIT: bumped to 5 stars because none of the other pens in this set had any issues, and the company was able to replace the broken navy pen (through Uchida's own website, FYI, not Amazon). I love the navy color so I'm really happy to have one that works. All the other colors in this set are beautiful too.

Although these are pricey, I would recommend them for someone who is working on hand lettering. I feel that the nod is smaller, but I think that’s what makes it an effective pen for smaller projects. For instance, they aren’t as big as the tombow brush, but they don’t have to be. The just do fine as they are and are another arrow in the quiver. They also fill well, but I would recommend them for large spaces. Nice pens!
