Pay the extra for a proper router
I bought this as a cheaper/simpler alternative to buying and using a router. It does work and it is okay, but having now bought and used a router (because it’s pretty difficult to get a good finish especially if you come across any knots in the wood) I wish I’d pt the money spent on this towards that instead. If you are looking to get this as a cheap alternative to a router, or as a first step into woodworking I would highly recommend saving your money and getting the router instead.

Just be careful
In itself it is good and therefore 5 stars. I did find that some of the wood I was using had knots and bad grain and thus did not cut well. This would have happened with any chisel I guess.

Works as it is advertised
Worked a treat, good price, used it to shamfer timber boards making a gate.

rubbish
Total rubbish. Cheaply made junk. The screws were all rounded out so you couldn't even begin to use it.Complete waste of money. It cost me twice as much money running around trying to send it back. Joke.

Brilliant
Lovely tool, play around with it on scrap pieces first to get a feel for the tool and how to use it.

Works great!
This thing is well built and works great. That said, be careful to do multiple shallow passes and don't try to do the whole thing in one go. You'll save yourself a lot of headache if you do.Several blades, all cut well. No complaints.

parfait

A good tool - if you do a few simple things to it first
If there is room for a router and power is available etc I will use a router. This tool is great for tight places on installed material. Before you use it, remove the blade and spend a few minutes with a flat sharpening stone to put a decent edge on it - makes a big difference. While the blade is out, clean up the threads and put a drop of oil on them for smoother adjustments. Then take some fine sandpaper or emery cloth, wrap it on the corner of something square, and sand the paint off of the surfaces that will contact your work (it's easier than sanding it off of your material - no plane surface that contacts your wood should be painted) If you do those three things before you use this tool I think you will like it a lot more, and it is well made, just not well finished.
