I don't believe I have had the mouse for 2 months yet, and so far have not experienced the problem you are having. I don't know where you purchased it but I would try another battery, or check the settings on your computer.

Q: What's the range? I have a surveillance system in a utility closet I want to control. Its about 30ft away with one wall of drywall in between.

I haven’t tested the range of the mouse, when I use it it is on my mousepad a couple inches from the computer.
