Q: Why did the packaging and name change from the blue and red colors to the blue and purple and the added name “Extra”? The ingredient list is the same.

I don't know about the change in colors on the package, but the "Extra" is not the same product as the regular Thera Teas. "Extra" gives a little additional lubrication and works well for day or night use.

I think the extra ingredient is trehalose, a lubricant but no better and perhaps not as good as CMC. So I agree. Another extra ingredient I'm not happy with is NA perborate which IS a (mild) preservative which should not be used more than 4x/day ( Google it).
