They are toilet paper roll holders. Nothing fancy, spring inside works well. Plastic is sturdy. Fits well into holder.

This spindle works very well and stays in place. The original spindle on the toilet paper holder kept falling out. This is an excellent solution to that problem.

Not matte black but close enough, plus toilet paper is covering it 99% of the time. It's plastic and has a bit of a shine. Pictures show it next to a matte black toilet paper holder. Quality of plastic matches the price but the spring works and holder stays in place. Couldn't find a black metal replacement and this blends in pretty well. So far, so good.
