Hand Operated Hydraulic Crimping Tool Range 12 AWG-2/0 AWG for Cable lugs Hydraulic Crimping Crimper Wire Terminal Lug Tool with 9 Pairs Dies

Needed this to add crimp stainless fasteners to my decking fence. Worked a treat.

Used for swaging stainless steel cables with copper ferrules. Being hydraulic they are of course fairly heavy which can make them awkward to use and it can be tricky to get the flats lined us exactly as you want but once you have them lined up you can crank on good and hard (so long as you had your shredded wheat that morning!). Decent range of dies which fit easily and they come with spare seals for the hydraulics.As with most tools like this probably best in their mid range. The real question being do you need something so heavy duty, and hence heavy, for the job or would swaging pliers be enough? If you need the extra power, go for it, they're good.

Managed 4mm stainless steel wire crimps with #4 die (12awg) on a 6-7mm turnbuckle. Needed about 6 pumps on the handle. Needs a fair amount of force with the short handles but did 18 crimps no problem. Only issue is the die looked pretty knackered after a few crimps, not sure if should deform that much? Looking to replace the die now. Good value though instead of the bigger model but would advise the bigger one for 4mm cable connections. I’d say this is best for 3mm.

Nice piece of kit - good and solid, not at all flimsy or plasticky...amazing for the money! Comes with a good set of dies and replacement seals. The instructions even explain how to change the oil, so it's obviously been made with maintenance in mind. Exploded diagrams in the instruction book are also great to see! I've bought a lot of effluent-inspired tools in my time and it's a rare delight when something decent like this arrives in the post.

Very good value for the money. Even though it only does from 4mm2 to 70mm2 its a solid tool and easy to use, even with one hand.

Dangerous and Poor Quality Tool!I used this hydraulic crimping tool for just one day, and it already cracked right through the body! You can see in the photo how serious the damage is – this tool is extremely dangerous to use. It works under high pressure and could have caused a serious injury. Very disappointing quality. I absolutely do not recommend it. I hope the seller takes responsibility and provides a refund. A tool like this should be reliable and durable, not break after a single day of use.

I rarely need a crumpet and can't justify spending hundreds when this little hand operated one works great for the occasional crimp
