I wouldn't consider these for a boat, I used them inside as cabinet lights in my RV. Didn't meet my expectations and here is why. The unit does not flush mount...needs gasket. The unit seems like two separate parts that were put together. The led is sandwiched into plastic casting and the ring fits around but the two are not attached together so just fall apart. On the backside there are two nubs, part of the plastic casting, and they rest against your cabinet or base, not the ring. Light emanates between ring and base and it is not meant to be mood lighting! As stated while it is chrome in color it is not chrome. A gasket that flush mounted the unit and stopped stray light would be a significant improvement. The wires are color coded black and red. My RV is white is hot and black is ground. The hot must go to the black wire and the red to ground otherwise the unit will not light. I wouldn't put these units around any water environment myself. Would buy again.

The actual LED plastic piece does not fit well into the chrome ring. I had to file it down to fit in properly. Also the screws are incredibly small diameter. Typical Chinese hardware. Might be better off to supply your mounting own screws.I hope they hold up on my boat in the elements.

Used to replace my deck courtesy lights on my Sea Pro WA and they look and work fine. Only slight issue was that the plastic around the screws was slightly raised and needed to be ground down in order to mount flush with the gunnels

And not a direct replacement either. This will not flush mount without countersinking the mounting holes. Constructed of very light plastic.
