Great stuff and good value.
Brilliant: I wanted to make molds of my feet to make a pair of shoes. I struggled a bit to make suitably sized and shaped "boxes", but when done I only needed one bag per foot. The plaster casts came out perfect. (The shoes leave a lot to be desired :-( )

Poor quality not fit for purpose
The alginate after setting continued to loose water, after two hours in an attempt to dry it a hairdryer was used for about half an hour it dried the upper part partially but the lower part of the hand still continued to be wet.I mixed very thick plaster to compensate for the wetness but it came out disfigured and knobly where wet. Also the colour change when mixing the alginate was very feint.I have used alginate for casting hands over the years and never had this problem. It was a waste of time and money.

Alginate - Trial and error
Giving this a 4 star for now, as I haven't seen the finished mould yet. Alginate is one of those materials that you sometimes need to practice with to get it right, but as alginate can be expensive (around £17-18 for 900g), it can be costly if you mess it up and need to redo it.As far as value for money goes, I got a good deal, getting 1.5kg for £19. The bags of alginate I received, didn't look like the bags advertised in the picture, however, they were still be the same company, still sealed, just in a more rectangular bag with a different sticker...not a big deal. This alginate is a little different compared to what I'm used to though. The alginate I normally use starts as a pink powder, goes a deeper pink when added to water, then goes dull grey when it sets. This alginate comes as a green powder, but still goes a deep pink when you mix it into water, then goes back to green as it sets.Powder to water ratio suggestions seem to differ between people. Last time I used alginate, I believe I tried 1:1 ratio and the mixture was too thick, worried it would set too fast, I hurried to get more water into the mixture, which looked like it was helping, but then it set whilst I was transferring to the mould container. I usually work with 1kg of alginate at a time, so since i had a spare 500g bag, I decided to try 1:4 ratio this time (500g alginate with 2 ltrs of cold water). This helped significantly. I managed to get the whole bag of powder into the mixing bucket and stir it using a hand held mixer, it was still gooey when I was transferring the mixture to the mould container. For the mould container, I used a 3 ltr drink bottle, just removed the top part,Not gonna lie, I was a little worried that if the water was cold, the alginate might not set. Also, having Raynauds, I didn't want my hand stuck in a cold, gooey mixture for too long either. Fortunately, the alginate did set, just took a bit longer but this definitely helped as I had plenty time to get all the alginate into the mixing bucket, mix it thoroughly, transfer to the mould container, get my hand in there, with time to wait on it setting. For anyone who hasn't used Alginate before, I strongly recommend covering the subjects hand in vaseline beforehand, they'll still get a lot of resistance when removing their hand, but it does make it a lot easier.

Excellent Hand Mould Alginate
3rd attempt, first time using this product. Excellent to use. Nice soft easy flow alginate to make a two hands together mould. I used two packets for my mould. Bucket size 18cm diameter,18cm depth. Had a little bit longer time to prep it before making the mould and knocking out air bubbles. Tip: try and get interlocking fingers to curl round to touch the back of the hand. Otherwise you can get difficult air pockets to fill with plaster.
