Foot Treatment
These socks are well made. They are indeed wide, however, if you have swelling in and around the knee, or have very large legs, they will be wide enough except at the very top. They might cut into you a bit. You can get around that by scrunching them a little if necessary. They're still very comfortable.I wanted these as oversized and walkable socks that could go over the type of foot treatment that requires your foot to be in a plastic bootie for about an hour, the kind that make your foot peel after about a week. For that purpose, these are wonderful because they hold the bootie or the plastic wrap in place, and also allow you to walk around while you are still administering the foot treatment.I also wore them recently when I had to have a test that required undressing except for the hospital gown and socks. They weren't so bulky that I couldn't wear a pair of clogs, that I could just quickly slip off. Protects your feet, helps you to be a little warmer, and you don't slip on their floor.

amazed at how well they fit
I wear a size 12 shoe and need large socks. My feet stay cold winter and summer, so I wear socks in the house all the time. I am amazed at how well these socks fit. They are wide enough to fit my calf without binding, but do not slide down when I wear them. These socks have the non-skid grips that I need when wearing socks in the house. These socks are great for a diabetic, people with extreme lymphedema, neuropathy pain, or anyone whose feet stay cold year round, or anyone with swollen ankles and calves.

NOT extra wide, especially in the calves!!
These are just a standard size anti-skid sock, nothing extra wide about them at all. The calves will not go over large calves and for sure not extra large calves. For my standard sized legs and wide feet these work ok and don't bind my feet, but I would not buy these for my daughter who has very large calves and can't have anything tight on them or her ankles as they swell. So there are a not go for her and the reason I ordered these.

Perfect pair of socks for anyone suffering from leg swelling, diabetic issues or neuropathy
I wanted these for a relative who has diabetic leg swelling, and also has neuropathy pain in the legs and feet from chemotherapy. She has also had issues with falling, especially during the nighttime making bathroom breaks. These grippy surface on the bottom of these socks are very helpful, especially in her home that is all hardwood floors. They fit very well and true to size, and have some stretch to them as well so they will fit a variety of people with various leg swelling issues.

Makes a Safe Walk to the Bathroom in the Wee Hours
Husband had urinary tract surgery three years ago and used to wake up and struggle into slippers, as our bathroom floor is not safe for sock-shod-only walking. Now he puts these socks with the non-skid bottoms on over his compression socks and can make his way quickly to the bathroom and back, and not feel like he will fall. He wears a large shoe size and his legs are often swollen from venous insufficiency, so the socks fit quite well. He likes that they are longer and go up the calf unlike the other extra width socks he bought.

NOT used as intended
These are very similar (in design) to the socks that you are given when you are hospitalized.Thick, warm, textured non-skid soles...These were great for a family member that was discharged from a six-week hospital stay. He was still week but needed to be able to safely walk on his wood floors in the house. These worked perfect for him!
