I am new to this type of crafting and was wondering exactly how this vinyl works. Please help, thanks

Welcome to vinyl crafting! People use self-adhesive vinyl in a couple different ways. Some people will cut out shapes or designs with scissors or other cutting tools (like a circle cutter). A lot of people have purchase a craft cutting machine which looks like a small printer and cuts shapes for you. Popular craft cutting machines are Cricut and Silhouette Cameo. These machines connect to your computer which allows you to program in any design and then you tell the machine to cut it for you. Once cut, you can stick it where you want - walls, cups, plates, windows, cars, etc. Check out the official Cricut channel on YouTube for a video example. Hope this helps!

Can you use transfer paper with these since they are already sticky?

yes, I use the transfer tape - no problem with it lifting off the finished product
