Simply put Chummie is the Best Bedwetting Alarm. It works like Magic.
My teenage son used to wet the bed on an average 5 times a week. He was struggling to get over it and we were helpless. We wanted to help him but didn't know what to do. Some articles over the internet provided relief for a day or two and then he was back to wetting the bed.A friend of mine who is a pediatric suggested that my son should try a bedwetting alarm. He also mentioned that I should consider the Chummie brand of bedwetting alarms and it is popular brand, has credible support and something that has worked for his patients. We went on Amazon and looked at our options. Chummie PRO was the best fit as it was a mat based system. Our overall experience with the system was fantastic, though the first few days we had slow progress. My son gradually started responding to the alarm. In a few weeks he reached a stage wherein he woke when the alarm buzzed and used the bathroom by himself. That was an improvement in itself. It took a couple of weeks more before he started getting up by himself to use the bathroom. It’s over a month now that he has been sleeping dry. Chummie worked, I just wish we had known of this brand a few years ago. I am glad to have purchased this product and very pleased to write this review. If the thought of trying a bedwetting alarm is holding you back, don't let it do so. Give it a try, be patient and it should work. I would also recommend purchasing a spare mat, so you can easily replace the mat at night and clean both in the morning. This will save time and help your child return to bed sooner with a less interrupted sleep.

Traumatic to child!
Imagine waking to the house fire alarm beside your bed. That is what this device sounds like. The instructions show a graphic of plugging in the device and the child sleeping. When the device senses moisture (later on that) the alarm sounds and per the instructions the device is deactivated and the child returns to sleep. What a load of...Real world...1) The physical characteristics - The device is a plastic sheet similar to a disposable kitchen cutting surface. Conductive film is laminated to the sheet in a pattern where the circuit is broken. Moisture on the sheet completes the circuit activating the alarm. In real world conditions this means the sheet must be covered by the bed sheet (pretty obvious) however the sheet also promotes sweating due to child laying on the plastic - ALARM!. A second lightweight 'baby blanket' may solve or minimize this issue. For children who take baths or showers immediately before bed this will also create an issue. The moisture from hair and skin will easily set off the alarm. There is another inherent problem with the plastic sheet under the child. It FEELS like a plastic sheet and it SOUNDS like a plastic sheet. Not soothing for a good night's sleep.2) The alarm - The device sounds like a loud pager from 1993 or a residential fire alarm. Imagine your little one waking to that. The wiring of the alarm allows it to be placed a few feet from the bed however THE INSTRUCTIONS ACTUALLY SUGGEST CLIPPING THE ALARM WITH ELECTRICAL WIRE TO YOUR CHILD'S SHIRT COLLAR! IT EVEN COMES WITH A LITTLE CLIP FOR THIS PURPOSE.Summary...This will not prevent bed wetting. The design actually requires bed wetting (or sweating, or drooling, etc.) to function. If anything the slightest moisture will set off the alarm and cause the entire household to wet the bed. At least then the child won't feel so bad about it. I can't imagine who thought it was a good idea to attach an electrical cord to a child's shirt collar (neck) at night.Yes...it was returned!

Good product, but flawed
Let me start off saying that this product worked really fast for my 7 year old son, but I think the one I received was defective. The reason I think it worked fast is because it actually got him thinking about going to the bathroom while he was sleeping. So yay for that! The reason I think mine is defective is because it would go off constantly when he wouldn't pee on it. And yes I know that it can go off from sweat, that is why we covered it with a pillowcase as suggested from the chummie website. Well that still didn't work, so I covered it with another pillowcase thinking maybe he is sweating through the first one, big surprise that didn't work either. The device had no moisture on it at all and the batteries were brand new.Overall though I am very happy that it helped my son even though it went off constantly when it wasn't suppose to.

This alarm is a life changer!
My 8 year old was wetting the bed nightly. He’s a very heavy sleeper, most nights he would sleep through his bed wetting, which created morning laundry and baths in the middle of the already chaotic mornings. If he did wake in the middle of the night inevitably it was at 2am or 3am, which meant laundry and changing sheets in the wee hours of the morning. This alarm changed all that!It did take about a month to work for us, but my son eventually started waking up as soon as the alarm went off and eventually he stopped wetting the bed. It’s been an absolute game changer in my house. It does make a crinkly sound, so we had to get used to that & it only comes with one cover, but the company will send you more (for a fee, which is super reasonable) if you call them. The only other thing to be mindful of is that the alarm is really sensitive to any moisture, so if you have a sweaty sleeper it’s going to go off. There have been several nights it went off because my son was sweating in his sleep. We just turned off the alarm and it encouraged him to get out of bed to use the bathroom.I would also suggest purchasing hospital grade chucks to go under the alarm. Their absorbent pads (I found them on Amazon) that can go under the alarm, that way when/if your kiddo has an accident you don’t have to strip the mattress cover off the bed.I’d give this thing 10 stars if I could - worth every cent I spent on it!
