The pegs are 19.5 inches apart. We found the pegs too far apart for many different grommeted mats. Hope that helps! **Q: Could i hang this with heavy duty command strips?** A: I doubt it. We used heavy molly bolts to attach ours. The weight of the matts is multiplied by the leverage of the rods holding the matts.
