I'm responding here about 45 minutes after first seeing the question - because I started laughing uncontrollably from Kelly's answer, and it took that long to compose myself enough to type.

Does the contour lock in place when set?

Yes it stays locked. As a matter of fact, the tines are so firm that it's actually pretty hard to move them out of place.

What is the actual width able to measure or contour with this gauge? I see product description and tech details don't match up. ANYONE have exact?

Looks like somehow the metal and plastic models have been mixed up. The metal one can reproduce a contour six inches long and two inches deep.

When will the 10 inches gauge will be available?
