Magnetize-It! Magnetic Paint & Primer - (Water Based) Standard X Yield 30oz (MIHYD-2001)

This product is AMAZING! I did a quick project at my home with it. I magnetized a wall (with this paint), I painted wooden tiles to resemble scrabble pieces, put magnets on the back, then made a scrabble wall! I would recommend to sand before painting. It says it on the can but I skipped that part and I have a rough wall. So it could be better, but that is my fault. Make sure you mix the can very well. It was easy to apply. It is very thick, so I bought some foam rollers to use and just throw away after. It dried pretty quickly also. This added an exciting piece to our home, if you’re thinking about getting it, here is your sign! Do it!!!

Used for a small wall to make it magnetic and then going to paint over with chalkboard paint also. 3 coats so far and working well. Definitely for a medium area but more than one can. Very thick so hard to make it really smooth but I did okay I think. Fries fast so can be done fairly quickly. Overall at first I am pleased

I love the concept but it’s not as great as I thought it be. I really hoped I would give this a 5 star but I just can’t. We wanted to use this for a Christmas event at our local school (pin the nose on rudolf, pin the hat on Santa, etc) the magnets wouldn’t stay onto the canvas and it was quite disappointing for everyone playing. Did everything the instructions said, even more coats than it suggested. I was super excited because I had told the PTA about how awesome this will be but I ended up being more embarrassed than excited with how it turned out. You can probably use this for a fun project for your kids but I wouldn’t recommend it for bigger events.

I read so many reviews and a lot of them said it not a good paint. I also read good reviews and what they did. I picked all advices from reviews. This is what I did. The day I was getting ready to paint before opening cans I took them to Home Depot to shake them. Then cleaned the wall I was going to paint. I tested magnet after each layer. I have to say after 3rd layer it held magnet great. I still put 3 more layer only because I had paint left over. It holds envelope with 2 folded papers behind it. So it’s 6 papers think.I am very pleased. My project not done but I wanted to show how great this works. I think shaking by hand is not enough. Taking to Home Depot and getting it to be shaken by them makes the whole difference.

I know it has the magnetic material in it because it is so heavy, but be prepared to put many many coats on for any real hold. I put this on the back of a door for reminders. I used 5 coats and it will not hold light things when the door closes.It won't hold heavy things at all. It did get a bit stronger as it cured, but not enough to make a difference for my use. It does dry quickly so putting on a dozen coats doesn't take as long as if it were latex paint, but its thick so it will take a lot. If it held better it would be 5 star for workability, but in my case it was kind of a waste of time.

I really wanted this to work so my kids could enjoy playing with their magnatiles and hang up their art. The magnetic effect is extremely weak — it takes 3 of the very very strong magnets to hold up a small piece of paper. Giving it two stars bc Amazon took accountability by refunding me even though I used the products and threw away the cans, bc i assumed the product would work. I was not anticipating having the hassle of a return or refund request. I don’t recommend this product. We are out of pocket for the painter hired to apply this since we didn’t want to do the job.

It works… but it is a chore. Mix very well before applying. I used sponge type brush and it made it a little easier.
