Great Coming of Age Movie
Prior to watching this I was just getting to know who Pop Smoke (Bashar Barakah Jackson) as an artist (rap) was. He was phenomenal and although he wasn't a main character per se', he played his role to perfection. I enjoyed the authenticity and believability of all of the young actors who played the main characters. The film deals with the common things that teenagers (their age) in the inner city deal with. In the climate that we currently reside the film maker was able to bring together different cultures and show the struggles that each teen was facing internally and externally in a believable way without going over the top or forcing relationships that typically happen organically. I'm an adult and I really appreciated Boogie. Very well written film. #RipPopSmoke

Surprise appearances
It's ok, but it would have been better with a little less bad language. I can't believe Charlamagne was in the movie.

I enjoyed the clashing rivalry, followed by comradery against the culturally diverse backgrounds
Great movie for young and old generations of Asians in America. I enjoyed the clashing rivalry, followed by comradery between the teams, and family, amid struggles with ancestry although different for the Chinese, African, Dominican, challenging all the same. Glimpses of the ancient amid the modern, the red worship station never really looked at, but present throughout. Just like the struggles Asian Americans feel, but nobody else can see. Beautifully said, by uncle, still a struggle, but just a little less of one with every generation. Something universally relatable regardless of background. The ending memory for Munk actor was touching too and made the movie that much more real. May the cycle of life continue, even beyond this world. Looking forward the the next hot flick by Eddie Huang!!!

So disappointing
Eddie Huang did a mediocre job sharing a story about an Asian basketball player named Boogie. Boogie tried too hard to be different, so much so that it wasn't genuine. Plus, his jabs to discredit Jesus was unwarranted and out of place. It was poor acting and directing all around. I'm glad I didn't buy the movie nor pay $20 to watch it during early release—honestly, it not worth the $5.99 rental fee.

If you are tired of Hollywood stereotypes and cliches, this movie is a good place to start.
Gotta applaud the effort to show the diversity that exists among Asians in America. Hollywood is locked into ridiculously narrow stereotypes of Asian men and women. The opportunities to tell our stories are rare. Eddie Huang took it upon himself to break some of those stereotypes. Great first effort by Taylor Nakanishi. As more opportunities develop to tell stories like this, maybe more Asian Americans will try their hand at acting, writing, directing and producing movies. I'm sure everyone can come up with ideas for how this movie could be better, but we first have to support such movies and give the people in front of the camera and behind the camera a chance to grow and get even better.

Ball is life, culture, and beauty
The plot was clean, the jokes funny, and the eye capture scenes were deep. I also loved how you displayed chinese culture, at least I think so, I don't reallllly know otherwise. Just feel you made a point to include it in your scenes.
