Q: Can I use Rejuvenate as a temporary fix on a 50s wood floor that has some spots as big as a few square feet without any coating (poly or varnish) left?

That's just what I did this week and it worked. My wood floors are 50 years old and refinished. In high traffic areas all finish was worn off. There are 'paths' through the rooms and deep scratches from a previous homeowner moving heavy furniture. Last year I tried Weiman but spots were left if any water dripped. I just used the Rejuvenate. I cleaned the floors with the Rejuvenate Cleaner because I wanted to make sure I did the job right the first time. All the dry time seemed tedious, but results are good. I gave the worn-out areas a third and fourth coat. The 'shine’ doesn’t make the shiny parts look different, but the bare wood traffic patterns are now blended in. The scratches are there, but less noticeable. Also, I sprinkled water on the floor and let it sit for several minutes. The water pooled on top and didn’t soak in or leave a spot. If I can keep the floors looking at least this good, I probably won't hire someone to completely refinish them.

Q: can you use without floor cleaner?

This may work on Modern hardwood floors, but I have antique hardwood floors and this did nothing for them!

Q: Can this be used on vinyl floors?

this is not more polyurethane if you read the ingredients its a acrylic product , which is strippable with floor stripers for ACRYLIC polishes. The kind commercial janitors use. You should be able to use this on vinyl that is safe to strip. A much better product for vinyl is Simonizing Wax ( a high solid acrylic type wax) the only down side to Sinomizing is since it has many solids and you can recoat once a year fro about 5 years in a home is you can't strip it with ammonia you have to use their floor striper.
