Nikon Coolpix L20 10MP Digital Camera with 3.6 Optical Zoom and 3 inch LCD, (Deep Red)

It was Murphy's Law -- our digital camera died two days before our big vacation. I didn't have time to do a lot of research, I just needed another camera. The local camera stores were too pricey, and the staff at the big box stores were useless when it came to helping me select a camera. These are the times when I love Amazon. I was able to sort by price, read comments, and order with 1-day delivery. Our camera arrived less than 12 hours before our flight departed and I'm thrilled to say that the camera performed beautifully, right out of the box. Loved the "easy auto" settings, as well as the ability to switch to more manual-style controls to account for sunsets, water glare, overcast skies, etc. The only bad photos out of the batch were the ones when someone stepped into the frame! We're pretty camera-savvy, so I didn't install the software. Instead, we simply pop out the memory card and use the slot on our laptop to download photos. One note: I probably missed this in my haste, but since this camera comes with internal memory, the package does not include an SD card. Luckily for us, we had a 2 GB card from our deceased camera and were able to reformat it for the Nikon. Bottom line: a great value, excellent photos, easy to carry in a jeans pocket, and lightening-fast delivery thanks to Amazon! I'd definitely recommend this camera for a no-hassle vacation memory-maker.

The L20 camera it is a great camera for less than $90. The camera takes excellent photos during night shots. Compared with my previous cameras (Cannon, Olympus) this camera has better features for night shooting and also you have a variety of shooting options that you can try. The quality of the photo is great for a point and shot camera. It is not a SLR, so don't expect wonderful zoom quality photos. It you used the entire zoom you will loose some quality on the photo. The LCD display could have a better resolution, because at the beginning when you don't know the camera, you can thing the photo that you take came blur or that you moved the camera but no, it is just low quality on definition on the LCD screen, when you download it on you PC, you see that the photo it has excellent color and definition. It is easy to have bad photos if you don't know how to hold the camera or if your pulse is not to good, the capacity of image stabilization it not has good has the cannon but the cannon is double the price. I read on previews reviews that if you drop the camera is done, well if you drop any camera from 4FT high or more you have a high possibilities that you will loose the camera, so protect the camera as you should and you will have years of service. In conclusion if you are looking for a low budged and high quality camera for the price, you need to go for this Nikon, the lens is great and the features are much better than any other point and shot camera.

My husband, a purblic works and construction inspector, is not electronically or photographically efficient and needs to be able to take and reproduce good visual accompaniment for his written inspection reports. He was having little success in the field with the camera he had and asked me to choose a new one for him. After reading comparisons in various publications I chose this one as seeming to be the best quality with the size he needed for convenience walking large area projects. He has had no problem operating the camera, the photos have been consistently clear and well focused (just using the default settings) and those needing to use these pictures for documentation have been highly satisfied. Amazing results for a "little" easy shot camera.

Perfect starter camera for a tween or teen. Picture, video capability with nice big LCD screen, takes AA batteries and your average run of the mill SD card. Picture quality is quite nice. 4/5 stars. The one we received is defective. It freezes up when using the picture playback option and the only way to get it unstuck is to remove the batteries. Amazon accepted it for a full refund and we will be sending it back tomorrow; could not exchange due to being "unavailable" at the time I placed the call to customer service (although the exact same one WAS available in red but was at a cheaper advertised price)...they did not offer to exchange it for the red one. Nikon could have thrown in a little case for it though. Overall decent little camera.

I bought this camera for my wife, who is a point & shoot type. Works great! She can carry it in her purse easily, and she loves not looking through a tiny viewfinder to see the subject. The nice LCD screen is great to compose your shot. Yet, if you read the manual, and use the menus, you can also use different settings for your shots, like action, macro, portrait, etc. The only ( not so ) bad thing is the USB connection to the computer is NOT a standard USB connection, like the one for my bluetooth headset & my other cameras, so again, you need a separate cable. Don't forget you need to buy an SD card for it, the internal memory is soooo tiny. I got an 8GB card for it that works great.

I did not do enough research on this item. I have a Canon A75 that I want to give to my daughter. I have a Nikon D60 DSLR as my primary camera, and I want an additional all-the-time camera. My criteria are simple. I just need a camera that will take acceptable pictures that I'm not embarrassed to share with my friends and family - I know not to expect the same quality that I get from my DSLR. I was not at all happy with ability of the camera to reproduce colors - they were undersaturated and a little bit off on hue. The LCD screen was completely grainy and made me dizzy. I took around 25 pictures and have packed it back up to send back. I expected the low light photography to be less than GREAT, but I didn't expect it to be impossible. One thing I didn't realize when I bought this camera is that it really doesn't have ANY manual controls AT ALL - I guess I at least expected to be able to select my ISO, but it doesn't even have that. You are at the mercy of the camera to select every parameter. Every picture I took, inside or outside with proper lighting, had unacceptable noise. My A75 blows this camera AWAY and I've had that 3.2 MP camera for almost 5 years. I have even considered reversing my offer to my daughter and just 'sharing'. I've decided to go ahead and stick with the A series from Canon and have ordered the A1000 IS, so we'll see how that turns out.

Cute? Sure. Leaves something to be desired though in the construction. The screen on this camera completely shattered 3 days after I received it. I put it in my fleece lined, jacket pocket (all by itself; there was nothing else in my pocket) I left it there just long enough to zip up my jacket and grab my hat. I took it back out of my pocket and much to my surprise, the screen was shattered. Really?? Perhaps I received a faulty one since most other buyers are raving about it but... I wasn't too happy about it regardless. It took great pics... for the few days that it did.

I purchased a digital camera prior to this one and after returning it because of all the problems and difficulties of trying to figure out how to operate it, I returned the camera for a refund. Went on Amazon.com to research and shop for another digital camera and found this one. Most reviews were postive so I ordered it. I LOVE this camera! The ease of use was delightful. I'm not very "ditigal" wise, but never had a problem figuring this one out after only briefly reading basic instructions. I was concerned about using AA batteries because some cameras eat them up. The Nikon Coolpix will operate on these batteries for a long time. Went on two week vacation,took tons of pics and never had to change the batteries. Great product at a great price. Thanks Amazon.
