Samurai 8: The Tale of Hachimaru, Vol. 5 (Volume 5)

There is a lot to absorb in this unfortunately final volume. While the art is dynamite and there are many cool concepts explored, this series was clearly axed before its time and the authors knew it. As a result, the story is very obviously rushed and what could have been an enjoyable sci-fi hero's journey is done a grave disservice. Still well worth a read, however.😁

This series was unfortunalty axed just before the 1st volume hit shelves in the USA last year. It saddens me that this series, which a rich diversity of characters, good battles and excellent is axed while series like EDENS ZERO continue cuz its has T&A. I hope someday they come to their senses and allow this story to properly finish.

I was really getting into the story with volume 4 and was interested how this final volume would wrap it all up. I honestly think it’s a shame that the rest of this story couldn’t have played out more. The volume It starts off pacing itself well and then starts to speed up in the middle. By the last chapter it is in emergency wrap up mode and hard to follow what’s happening. There’s fights and things happening that I don’t remember being started and it’s all over before it begins. It leaves a small door open for if kishimoto ever gets to carry it on but for now it’s over...I gave 4 stars because I liked it but the end chapter was way too rushed.

The very definition of dropping the ball. If it was not the final volume fine, but this was NO ending in any sense of the word!
