what are actual dimensions of each individual compartments ???

The dimensions listed for these pill containers are 10.5 x 5.5 x 1.13 inches, but they are actually 8.875 x 4.375 x 1.0 inches (length, width, height). That is 15%, 20%, and 12% smaller than advertised at the top of the Amazon page (further down on the page under "Product description" the dimensions are listed at 8 3/4 x 4 1/2 x 1. That is still incorrect.) I bought four of these to replace the ones I've been using for years because I needed a larger container. These turned out to be exactly the same size as the old ones, so I'm right back where I started.

Can a container be removed from the tray?

Yes, both Sat.-Sun. morning and evening containers can be removed from the tray which holds them both. Purchased July, 2022.

Are the individual compartments equal to the XL or XXL 7-day push button boxes?

I am not familiar with the boxes you referenced.I do take 10 pills in the mornings and 4 in the evenings, and these hold them easily. I find they stay locked well, and so far have not had any problems. I have had flimsey ones that didn't stay closed well. As safety measure while transporting on trips - I will put rubber band around both sides..AM & PM.
