For three times as much you can buy a slightly larger plastic set that comes with a deck of shapes. Yes, interesting to see what can be assembled but most of those are not a challenge. A few took me more than a minute. Some can be made multiple ways. But what has fascinated me since I was in high school (graduated 1968) was that you supposedly can assemble the cube shape 240 ways. I used a market pen to put a code on the plastic pieces and then started recording different ways Wikipedia has a good explanation of how to record solutions -- you only need to record the three faces showing (as in the product picture). I start with the corner piece, they use the "T" piece. No matter. A colored set makes it a lot easier to record solutions. For ten years I kept a set on my desk at work and would fool with it when I needed to relax for a minute or to think through some vexing problem. I have about a hundred solutions. People who visited my office simply played with the pieces making odd shapes. Fantastic desk toy and cheap enough to give as party favors. And this slightly smaller size is fairly light. Think I'll get a set, leave it in the clear shrink wrap, tape a hook to it, and hang it in a Christmas tree.

Already I ordered three more beyond my original order of three--that's how good I feel about the product. Check out "Soma Cube" on wikipedia for some different structures you can make.

Cheap! Ordered 2 of these, 2 of the 14 total pieces had a block that have broken off. This is cheap, glued together wood blocks. Spend the extra $$ to get some quality.

I bought this for my child to do the exercises in her math workbook. One of the pieces came unglued nearly immediately but I was able to google the correct shapes to glue it back correctly. This product came (directly) from China (it took 2 months to arrive) so I am unsure about the safety of the paint/gloss. Otherwise it has served its purpose well.

Fun mind benders! I am using these as problem solvers for my classes.
