The Stranger in the Lifeboat: A Novel

Another magical mystery from Mitch Albom
Ever since first reading “ Tuesdays with Morrie “ many years ago, I have been enchanted by Mitch Albom’s story telling ability and this latest novel is no exception. Once picking it up, I could hardly put it down.Albom has a way of reeling me in to his stories, a mixture of the unlikely and the mysterious, a story that makes me ponder theological and existential questions. The action takes place at three parallel levels - survivors of the sinking of a luxury yacht adrift on a raft in mid Atlantic , the finding of the empty raft washed up on the Caribbean island of Montserrat a year later and the efforts of a troubled police inspector to find out what happened, and media coverage of the yacht’s disappearance based mainly on surmises. The author cleverly weaves the disparate strands of his story towards a surprising denouement . Any fan of Mitch Albom will be grateful for another of his wonderful stories.

Always profound
I love Mitch Albom and this book doesn't disappoint. In fact, it is one of my favorites so far. Mitch is in my eyes a messenger of God's profound lessons through storytelling.

compelling story
This small book was very thought provoking. I wonder how each of us would act if placed in the same situation!

Dragged out but a great ending.
Seemed to go on and on. Thought it would never get to the point. But a great " Mitch Album " ending.

GREAT BOOK
I bought this book because I heard about it on T.V. and was interested in the plot. I opened it and started reading it, and I literally did not put it down until I had read the whole book!! It was that good!

A must read for believers
Mitch Albom is a great writer and this book is no disappointment. It is an adventure at sea which is documented in a notebook. It has just enough intrigue and twists to make you not want to put it down!

another page turner from Mitch Albom
I read this book in 48 hours. It’s always intriguing how people manage a the situation they find themselves. This is a novel of redemption. My favorite quote, “sometimes we have to lose who we were to become who we are”. Worth the read even if you don’t believe.

Brilliant and inspirational. I loved it.
I love mitch albom and have read all his books. This is definitely on par with the five people you meet in heaven which is my favourite. For mitch albom fans a real must. It is brilliant, beautifully written and just the kind of inspirational story we all need at the moment.

Pretty good…
An easy and enjoyable read. I read this book because I previously read ‘The Five People You Meet in Heaven’. Of the two books, I preferred ‘The Five People…’, but that is more because that book is particularly good rather than ‘The Stranger in the Lifeboat’ being sub-par in any way. I would (and probably will) read other books by this author. Overall, I would be happy to recommend.

Survive or die
A short novel relating the tale of a luxury yacht sunk off Cape Verde owned by a boorish billionaire who brought together the great and not so good on a idle whim to save the world, in reality no more than a sailing jolly that naturally ended in disaster for all bar a small group of survivors, whose lives plummeted into thirst, hunger and death depending on their belief of a redeeming Lord.

thought provoking
This is the third Mitch Albom book I have read. Like the other two, it’s easy to read, thoroughly absorbing and very thought provoking.
