SAMOTECH Light Switch Cover for TRADFRI Wireless Dimmer and Shortcut Button (SM215-TRD)

I've tried the standard 3D printed option to mount my Ikea Tradfri dimmer over existing switches and while functional those were not really great to look at. This one, in complete contrast, is fantastic and looks very professionally done. All white glossy finish, built in magnetic plate for the dimmer to snap to and a cool way to expose the underlying switch for emergency use. Comes complete with longer screws, washers, even a screwdriver! Fits very neatly over my existing switch. All for just 50p more than the standard 3D printed ones...definitely one to recommend.

Tried a few products for mounting an IKEA switch over an existing light switch and this one definitely works best and looks good too. It holds the switch in place firmly (magnetic) without obstructing the operation of the switch. Brought a couple more after trying one.

It does exactly what was needed hiding the switch from being switched off and adding my own smart switch. The unit is a little bulkier then I thought it would be, but the reason it's not 5 stars is it's a little tricky to install and when installed you get a slight bevel on one side. This might be the metal backboxes but no match what I try I can't avoid the very small bevel.

Best I could find. As other reviews state, the magnet is a bit under powered. To keep the switch attached I've put an extra magnet on the back of the IKEA switch base which seems to improve things a lot. We'll see! Wasn't obvious how to remove the cover to access the screw holes.. It just slides! Easy when your realise. It's bigger and uglier them I would like, but it does so the job! I'll wait and see before I get any more

My review until today was: (Great product covers up the old switch and stops accidental power off’s. Even comes with the right screws and a mini screwdriver. 🪛) This was for the on off dimmer switch mount. Sadly today I received my mount for the tradfri remote and I was very disappointed. I don not recommend. The cover/mount does not have a built in magnet so you cannot attach your remote onto it. If you stick your mount that comes with the switch onto the cover it then works but this is annoying as the description does not mention this at all. Also, you are likely to have that stuck on a wall already and removing this may damage your paint. I still 100% recommend the on off switch mount as it is so slim and looks very sleek while also stopping other family members from switching off physical switch. However do not buy the round tradfri remote mount as you will be disappointed. If they had said in the description that you were required to provide your own magnet then fine but sadly they do not warn you.

Brilliant! Comes with two longer than standard screws to replace the ones you took out, as well as a dinky little screwdriver. You do have to remove both screws before fitting which can make lining them up again a bit of a fiddle, but I got them in after a couple of tries. The slide-on part of the cover has a metal plate behind where the button goes, so it will accept the magnet on the button. SmartThings buttons go well on here, although they are a little smaller than the fitting was designed for. A button without a magnet I guess could be stuck on with blu-tak etc. Anyway, I am planning to buy more of these!

Nice and simple, easy to fit. Of reasonable quality for what it is, well priced and for homes without a neutral running to the switch, probably the quickest and easiest way to turn a dumb lightswitch into a smart one. The cost of this cover, plus the Tradfri switch, is reasonable and stops my wife from turning the lights off at the wall. I will definitely be buying some more.

I bought one just to see what they are like. While yes they are not the prettiest they do actually serve their purpose and if I am honest I've not seen anything that I like 100%. It's great to push the panel up in the event of a dead battery or some other home automation issue. I was about to mark it down and complain that the Ikea round remote falls off or is easily knocked when used. However, pushing the Ikea mounting in firmly locks it in place. So will I buy more, yep 100%, they do the job they needed to do for me. Edit: 20-May-2022 I have changed my scoring on this after a few days of use. Initially I thought it was secure but as others have stated the magnet in these is far to weak to hold the backing plate in place. However. A small square of double sided Velcro and it’s stuck on with no issues. You would never know it’s there as the backing plate still sits flush. So the question would i still buy more? Yes 100% and if they can make either the magnet stronger or some way of the backing place clicking in to the faceplate I will happily update this review and give more stars.

Wie bereits in einer anderen Rezension hier von jemandem geschrieben, kann ich auch nur dazu raten, die Finger davon zu lassen. Für Lichtschalter in Deutschland die unterputz gelegt sind, passt diese Abdeckung definitiv nicht. Ich finde da sollte in der Produktbeschreibung ausdrücklich drauf hingewiesen werden.

Vorsicht. Nicht kompatibel mit runder Tradfri Fernbedienung. Nicht geeignet um bestehende Lichtschalter abzudecken. Ist wohl nicht für den EU Markt gemacht.

Funktioniert nicht! Ersetzt NICHT das originale unterteil. Ob es damit geht weiß ich nicht. Habe bestellt weil ich einen Ersatz für das Unterteil wollte -.- Nachtrag: Das Unteteil gibt's bei Ikea als ersatzteil per Post. Und sogar kostenlos!!!
