Would love to know the actual size of this before buying. It says 17x29 in the description, which seems HUGE...but then the package size is 11x7 so???

What are those random vertical letters to the left of the weekly planner?

The planner is undated and those are the first letters of each month. You circle the letter of the month to go with the date that you write on the top of the page.

What are the measurements of this item? I'd especially like to know the size of each daily to do space. Thanks.

The space to write in for each day is 1/4" in height and 2" in length for each day. I hope this helps. Each page is 11" long and 6 3/4 in height. I really is a great product. I absolutely love it

Is the outside cover of this planner flexible/floppy or is it more rigid/sturdy?

The cover is flexible. It is heavier than the weight of the back of a paper school notebook. If you hold it near the spine it is going to be somewhat floppy because of its length.
