Love this pump! Super quiet, low heat transfer, low watts...
I've been in this hobby for 29 years. I had a T4 Velocity (external) this whole time up until April 2017 when I finished upgrading my filtration. The 145 watt Velocity worked just fine, but transferred a ton of heat which created a need for a chiller. The chiller even kicked on during winter...CA winter to be fair. The VarioS-6 pushes plenty of water for my 75gl reef. I have it running thru a manifold prior to hitting the display. It runs my chiller and my carbon/GFO reactor plus display. According to my Apex flow meter my output, after the manifold, 4ft of head and several 45/90s, is 450gph at its highest variable speed. I do run two Gyre XF-230s for flow as its a mixed reef. I am not sure how accurate the flow meter gph is, but I see no difference in output between the varioS and my old Velocity which was rated just slightly lower. The reduced heat transfer has lead to enough savings (because the chiller rarely goes on) that it has already paid for the pump in the first year. That doesn't figure in the savings from the reduced wattage. I love this pump so much that I am buying another just so I can have a spare and to make maintenance easy. I will simply unscrew the union and drop a clean pump in every 6-months and clean the dirty one up/store. My Velocity pump did last 28 years with very little maintenance and at $400 it was a great value, built like a tank. I am not sure how this plastic body will hold up and I do expect more maintenance given the build material vs my titanium unit...but the Pros far outweigh any cons.Pros:Low heat transferLow wattageDead silentEasy removal via included union connectionsInexpensive impeller replacementVariable speedFloat switch includedLong cabling provided for remote positioning of controllerCons:Build material may not last 28 years

Very powerful pump
I bought this to replace my main return pump. I have a 100gal display with a 30gal sump and I can only turn it up to level 1 most of the time. I was able to run it at level 2 but if you start to run low on top off then the pump was able to run faster than the drains could keep up. To be fair I do not have great drains since I am still stuck with a hang on overflow.

Nice pump, and better than the more expensive M1
I bought this after trying the Ecotech M1. The M1 had plenty of power, and a pretty controller, but it was loud. This pump isn't quite as strong at the M1, but has plenty of power for my 125G tank, and it runs almost silently. And, its a lot less expensive!

The package looked like someone ordered it
Just received and it's missing various plumbing connections and the intake screen. The package looked like someone ordered it, went through it, took the parts they needed and returned it. Then they sent it back out as new without checking it. Absolute garbage. Sold by TBAquatics.

Over priced
The flow rate does not match up to what they claim

So far so good
It's quiet, it works as advertised and was an easy install. I've only had it running for 3 1/2 weeks but so far so good.

Silent as you can get.
What an amazing pump. Absolutely silent and vibration free even at 100% output. I keep it at 75%.

Solid and simple
Switch it out and plug it in. No surprises
