FX processors are better than people give them credit for
The FX-8350 is still a good deal if you can get it for the right price. I've installed it with 16GB DDR3 @ 1600MHz, an RX560, and a Samsung Evo 860. This is more than capable of handling modern workloads and even some light gaming. For under $100 with the wraith cooler, it's worthwhile if you're trying to max out your upgrade path on an AM3+ board. So far no issues on an Asus M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 flashed to 3029 BIOS from July of 2012. It'll turbo to 4.2GHz on all cores when needed without throttling, and this is with auto settings in the aforementioned BIOS. So while it rates at 4GHz across 8 cores, it actually manages to run at 4.2GHz without issue. So far it's idling between 33-35C. It also averages between 30-40 watts at idle, but it definitely bumps up to around the full 125 watt TDP at full load. Its on-chip memory controller detected the 16GB of DDR3 I installed and is running it at 1600MHz, also without issue. So it seems a good option for those who want to upgrade an older system to get the most out of their hardware without adopting a new platform. I wouldn't suggest anyone build a system new based on AM3+, but a lot of users still have AM3+ boards. Unless you really need the power of something like a Ryzen, it works quite well. Windows 7 has been better optimized to utilize the architecture of the FX now, and 8 forward will do even better. Between utilization of the cores to power-saving features, handling has been greatly improved. You'll not regret the upgrade, especially if you pair it with some good RAM and an SSD.

This CPU will seamlessly provide plenty of power to run any of the modern games out and allows a great ability for multitasking
This processor was an upgrade from my 8320 and the difference was noticeable right of the bat. The CPU performs flawlessly as advertised and gives the user an astonishing level of overclocking room. This CPU will seamlessly provide plenty of power to run any of the modern games out and allows a great ability for multitasking while under load. The addition of the AMD's Wraith cooler was a bigger bonus. I've been reluctant in the past to use stock coolers but this system is more than capable of providing sufficient cooling dynamic while CPU is under heavy load. The fan is barely a whiper when playing DOOM (2016) at Ultra setting and temperatures maintaining 63 degrees after a lengthy session. Over all, this CPU and cooler combo provides great power stacked with sufficient cooling capabilities and more than adequate for any gamer.

An oldie but goodie
Replaced an old Phenom II x4 965BE with this. The Phenom had liquid cooling but I wonder if the liquid goes bad or away as it sure had become noisy. The Wraith cooler was a breeze installing it and oh so quiet, very quiet! I installed the CPU on a new Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 R5. Again was very easy. The performance is astounding. I know many feel the FX series is outdated and Intel beats AMD by a mile and blah-blah-blah, but as much as I'd like a new ZEN CPU, I have a feeling they'll be expensive. Why the 8350 instead of 8370? The 8350 seems to do better in many tests. Anyway, I am very happy with this FX-8350 and how my games and apps are running. Two week update: This CPU is truly amazing. It is bother very powerful and the wraith cooler very quiet. All my games can be played on ultra settings @ 1080p which is my monitor's native resolution. The CPU Benchmark score is around 4-5k better than the 965. You won't regret this if you like AMD.

Great processor - get them while you can
I bought one of these for a recent server build (home surveillance system), and it works fantastically. I'm running Xubuntu and Zoneminder with quite a bit of processing going on (motion detection, mostly), so the processor gets a good workout. Right now I'm running 4x 1080p cameras and it only really uses up about 1% of the processor -- although it does use about 10GB of memory. I liked this one so much that I bought a second to put into my mother's computer. She had an older processor and could use the upgrade. The machine is much snappier and it was a breeze to install. It's important to note that some motherboards will need a BIOS update prior to installing this.

Fantastic Budget Option
Not as future proof as Ryzen obviously but a dang good processor for any budget gaming/work station rig. Can handle most modern games without a problem, unless they're crazy CPU dependent.

Important info. I've been building my own for 30 Years.
I've built 3 Systems with this CPU & I knew the original Heat sink would not keep it cool enough & bought the new Cooler Master V8 GTX. Now that the Wraith Cooler comes with this CPU, That's an awesome step up upgrade not to have to buy another V8 GTX. I've watched some reviews & I could overclock to maybe 4.7Ghz, but I won't. I really don't believe in overclocking anything. You need to concentrate on the entire configuration. Example, I once read "there is no way you can get a system rating above 5.9 without using an SSD HD ". Guess what ? That so called Guru's statement was wrong!. My current system base rating is 6.2. How ? I built it using 2- 1TB Raptor HDD's in Raid 0 Array, 16GB of Ram at 1866Mhz & twin EVGA 970 GPU's in SLI Mode & a 3D Monitor that allows me to set it for 144 FPS. My system is VR compliant. All I need is a VR Headset & some games. I'm not ready to invest in that yet. I do have 3D Glasses & I'm really happy to find out many of my older games can be played in 3D. I get smooth game play with everything I throw at it. I don't really see a need to overclock. Nothing runs any faster. Nothing different is noticeable, so why stress components for nothing ? This CPU is awesome & many benchmark test video's I've seen stated that in many test's it out performed I7 Class CPU's. The new AMD Zen core CPU due out next year Starts at a clock speed of 3Ghz. I won't go near it until it can match or prove to out perform this 8350 at 4 to 4.2 Ghz with just Turbo enabled.

Came exactly as advertised
Product showed up a little early which is refreshing during COVID. Very easy install and Mobo recognized it immediately. Wraith cooler is amazing and handled some overclocking no issue. This is the last of that generation but is the best. If you can't upgrade the Mobo this is your best option and you won't be disappointed. Ran Revit 2021 LT no problem and I was getting mid 30's FPS on Fallout 76 on ultra which is perfectly playable and enjoyable. (GPU is RX 580 8G OC)

Great Upgrade
I upgraded from a 4 core to this 8 core AMD processor and I couldn't be happier. The big difference in speed is like night and day. No problems what so ever. It is power hungry but if you have a high wattage power supply ( I have a 650 watt PS) and a good cooler it will work as advertised.

Good
Good processor. Doesn't get heated too much during normal usage.
