Excelelnt kit
Very good kit and does the job as described. I used to control the cooling fans in a system. The on-ff switch was what I needed for this application. I had this for several years now without any problems. I would recommend it.

Nice little hub. Does its job.
BACKGROUNDThe power supply in my PC is maxed out so when I added a USB3 card a few years back I had to choose an unpowered jobbie. This is fine for devices like HDDs which have their own power supply and some memory sticks (but not all) which don't require much power from USB, but things like SDDs or portable disk drives which are designed to take their power from USB can't be connected which is a bit of a drawback.PERFORMANCEJust super. Since this supplies the usual half amp to the devices connected I can now connect SSDs to my PC using USB3. First thing I did after a large copy was to verify that the files were all present and correct (diff -r in the windows 10 bash shell, if you're interested). When connected this was done on copy from USB2 it took 72 minutes for the verification. When done on 2 devices connected to USB3 only using the hub this came down to 14 minutes. No nasty surprises in the transfer.I have also noticed that some large folders were taking minutes to redraw on Windows 10 file explorer whenever I made a change on USB2 but now happens instantaneously on the same device connected via the hub.DEVICESI have tested SSDs and external 3.5 inch HDDs using the hub and both work fine. Don't expect a 3.5 inch HDD to work from the power supplied by the hub alone, however. Half an amp isn't nearly enough to spin one of those up, it still needs it's own power supply.SUMMARYThe hub is doing exactly what I need it to at a reasonable cost. I have no complaints.

Very reliable.
Have been using this fixed to an astronomy rig for over a year and so far it has been very dependable. My only criticism is that the attached usb cable is too short.

Does the job well
Perfect for what I need. The USB ports were wearing out on my laptop so this port has saved the day. I particularly like the smart charging port for my phone. Recommended.

These hubs can serve all your devices
If all your connected devices require a low power input like a mouse, microphone, keyboard etc then you do not need to connect a power supply to the hub. If you have a scanner or printer etc without its own power supply then it may be necessary to power the hub. This could also apply if you want to use the charging port on the hub.The manufacturer provides a good warranty should the hub fail at a later date.

Nice hub and great customer service, it works for external harddrives if hub is not powered.
atolla reached out to me with a replacement after I left my review, which was good customer service, and there is slight update. The hub will work with external hard drives, but you have to use it as a non-powered hub i.e. you need to remove the power cable from the hub. Annoying, but the hub works and you can turn off and on coriginal review - I thought that given it is a powered hub it would support external hard drives. No, not even if the hard drives are powered themselves. Other than that, it is fine
