A great 4K remaster for an underatted film
Batman V Superman Dawn of JusticeThis film was unfairly polarised during its run back in 2016, while today we know it was not Zack Snyder's Director's Cut that was originally released I still did not think the film was terrible just that it lacked a coherent pacing and motivations of the characters and I gave the film 3/5Fortunately the Ultimate Edition (Director's Cut) was released on physical media along with the theatrical cut at the same time and many agreed it was far superior and should of been the official cut from the beginning and I now think the film is a 4.5/5. But as we know studios today want films one length to get as many screenings as possible in a day and are willing to sacrifice content and quality for quantity as we all know how Justice League went down and thank goodness Zack Snyder won for his vision but with Batman V Superman today many refuse to watch the theatrical cut and in the lead up to the Snyder Cut, Zack Snyder himself managed to persuade the powers that be that Batman V Superman needed to have a proper 4K remaster with the IMAX scenes in their full glory. This is how the movie was meant to be seen and it’s all the better for it. For the majority of the movie (non IMAX scenes) colours are better balanced and have more pop, detail is improved and black levels are stronger then the original 4K release (the blu ray was far more accurate in it’s look) and now looks vastly improved in it’s scope look..... However it’s the IMAX scenes where this disc shines. Crisp and vibrant and still has the gritty tone that suits the film the composition of the shots work better now and Larry Fong’s gorgeous cinematography shines. Did the 4x3 ratio bother me? Not at all but this is where some people might be put off by this disc and might find it distracting and if you one who is not a fan of 4x3 or changing aspect ratios then I would go with the original blu ray as that as mentioned is much closer to it’s colour pallet then the original 4K.One thing to mention, the film is very grainy throughout. this was an artistic choice by Snyder and his cameraman Larry Fong as they filmed the movie in many different formats. Grain has never been a problem for me but for those looking for a crisp, clean digital image this is not the film. The IMAX shots have minimal grain but just wanted to make that clearIn terms of extras we get a minute intro by Zack Snyder as well as a commentary but non of the original extras are on this disc so you need to still keep your blu ray copy If you want those. Both of these new extras just tell me that Snyder comes across as a very nice man with a great visual eye and seems more in a better place after the family tragedy but his commentary does have a few interesting information here and there this is purely for hardcore fans of the man.Lastly the sound mix is amazing as it always ways.Overall a great remaster that while seems subtle is a vast improvement and the IMAX shots are stunning and highly recommended to fans who want the true vision of the film

definitive edition of a wonderful movie
The ultimate edition of BVS is a monumental piece of film making. A direct continuation of the superb Man of Steel with the consequences of MOS epic final fight felt as a powerful through line throughout the movie. It takes its predecessors themes and ideas and opens them up to a grander scale. Batman is old, brooding and jaded. Lex is a twisted Mark Zuckerberg, Superman is hated and loved in equal measure and the goddess of wonder woman is a revelation. The movie also sets up Justice league and the wider DCEU with general worldbuilding, the knightmare future timeline and videos of other meta humans. The soundtrack and cinematography are top notch as always. Dealing with grand ideas of gods, men, and morality, BVS delivers in all avenues. The new 4k remaster is superb with various IMAX scenes restored in their original ratio. The added impact of these scenes is tremendous, especially in the knightmare scene. Anyone with a passing interest in this movie and have the ability to play 4k blu rays it is a no brainer.

Ultimate edition delivers an ultimate spectacle
When I first watched the cinematic version in cinemas in 2016 I was utterly disappointed with this movie. Maybe this was due to the huge anticipation and personal expectations of what it should be like To be honest I am not sure why I utterly loved it compared to my dismal thoughts after I watched it initially. It must come down to the fact that this time I purchased the ultimate editionIt had been 5 years since I last watched so I was unsure if where all the additional scenes were added but they certainly gave this movie an improved dimension and made the storytelling easier to follow. Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill are superb as Batman and superman respectively. Gal Gadot was a wonderful Wonder Woman and lex Luthor that eccentricity and touch of insanity we would expect. I loved the story too, it was not overly far fetched and it is understandable why Batman and Superman are willing to battle to the deathOverall, I am pleasantly surprised watching this edition of a heavily criticised movie. It is well worth a watch and is now one of my favourite movies at this current time!

The Directors Vision makes so much more sense!
Putting 30 minutes of important exposition and character detail back into this movie greatly improved the experience. This is still not a great movie, but the extra footage in the Ultimate Edition now means that at least the film makes sense. My only regret is that I did not get to watch this version in the Cinema. The extra few minutes in the Lois Lane segment in the desert, make the whole sub plot about who is setting up Superman important and greatly enhance the film. There are little details like this that were taken out of the first half of the film that are really important to the plot.Do yourself a favour and buy this version it is well worth the extra time you will spend in the company of Batman, Superman and the every wonderful Wonder Woman. Excellent upgrade.

Graphic novel of the same fight was far better than this...
The way it veers into the 'lets team up then further films needed' schtick is very poor. The Batman is not bad and Superman works well wonder woman is good. Luther is good, the demon thing is rubbish. CGI os poor in places. This version better than the previous release. You can see so many slips ups though and to be fair the storey is just boring... Snyder really does not do anything different which is a shame but then again the studios probably didn't let him
