Very impressed. This is heavyweight, all-stone. It will last forever, without a doubt. Grinds well, cleans easily and dries quickly. I love that the directions instruct you how to season or prime the product by grinding rice, which is more work than it sounds like! But, it removes any grit remaining from production. The card with the order in which to grind items was great too. Just don't drop this on your foot. You would do some damage!

The media could not be loaded.  I was excited to see a two cup capacity granite mortar and pestle set. Unfortunately the capacity is one cup not two. The dimensions noted in the description appears to be for the packaging. It will suit my purpose so I will keep it.

Sturdy and of great quality. it is ideal for grinding small or medium portions..Ive owned several sets over the past and this is one of the best I have used.. Very happy with it and would highly recommend

This product has a nice weight, so it doesn't move around while you are using it. The cup is deep enough that contents do not fly out while you are using it (a problem with more shallow versions). It is slightly annoying to have to "season" it when it first arrives, but it does commit you to the product. All in all, a nice addition to your kitchen.

This mortar and pestle is just right for my needs. Small...just enough to grind small batches of spices. It is deep than most I came across and that is good. I liked it even more deeper so that it will prevent your spices from going out while grinding if it is deep. Also, it is a little rough which I like. Smooth mortal will be bouncy for the spices, unlike rough, it get a good hold of the spices and will grind quicker. I advice not to sand it. You can pound the pestle lightly but not hard just enough to break or crush the whole pepper and after that just swirl the pestle around to break it however fine you like it. Because I see some pictures in here that they broke their pestle. I hope this helps. Have a good day everyone.

Know what you're buying because you're going to have a rough time grinding spices like saffron in such a huge pestle like this. If you're wanting to grind spices, get a smaller Mortar / Pestle set.I like the built in bottom mat. It gives me confidence that I won't scratch my tabletop.The look is spot on and looks great on my counter top.The priming process can take quite a bit of time and effort but is worth it. I think I had to do at least 2 hours of grinding rice into this Mortar.

This mortar and pestle set is so pretty, I love it. However, in following the directions to prepare it for use, it says to grind up rice several times before using. I'm not sure if I'm really weak or if I just have really hard rice, but I found this next to impossible to do. I tried as hard as I could to grind the rice into powder as directed, but hardly even cracked the rice. So after working on it all afternoon long, I called it good and washed it out ask described and have it ready to use. I'm sure it will be fine! There were no loose pieces of granite that I could see after all of my hard work, so I think we'll be safe.

I received this motor and pestle last week and was very impressed with it's quality right off the bat. It is heavy duty, user friendly and beautiful. It has an elegant design and is a piece that I am happy to display on my counter. I have wanted a motor and pestle for a long time but haven't found one that I absolutely loved, but I can't say that anymore! It came with instructions on how to season it before use to decrease the chances that you will find pieces of stone in your food going forward as well as how to clean and store it when not in use. It also came with a garlic peeler which I have never used before, but I am truly going to enjoy peeling garlic and not getting the sticky papers all over my hands anymore! I would definitely recommend this product to someone looking for a quality motor and pestle!

Good: Solid, heavy mortar. Narrow opening with deep cup means it wont splatter out and stays confined. Rubber pad at bottom of mortar helps - though a bit skinny.Bad: Very short and rather skinny pestle. (I have medium hands) That means you are not getting a good grip on it. High mortar brim mean you have to go deep - but with limited hold on a short pestle handle, you cant apply the force. So the initial running in with rice as instructed, took a long time. Corianders don't get ground properly as you see after reasonable pounding.

I ordered this product for my daughter’s birthday. Unfortunately it came without a pestle. Definitely will not buy again.
