Love it. I've tried them all - Hermes etc. But this is the one I will stick with.

Great balm, weird fragrance
I primarily wet shave using a safety razor (usually with an oil) and I’m always looking out for a decent post shave lotion or balm. Not sure this is it for me..The balm itself is nice and smooth and a perfect consistency. Does feel good on the face and does soothe the skin.Really like that it’s vegan (even if I’m not), cruelty free and has clean ingredients.I like most things about this balm but.. the smell is not pleasant (to me).My wife described it as “suntan lotion”. My initial reaction was “grandma’s evening lotion”.I was expecting a strong menthol, masculine vibe but the other ingredients overpower it and, to me, it smells both feminine and dated. And this is coming from someone who’s happy to wear fruity, citrus deo and arguably girly fragrance. So I cannot give this 5 stars. I’ll give it 4 stars based off the many positive attributes but if you’re expecting a masculine bourbon, tobacco, menthol traditional scent, this is NOT for you.

I’m torn on this…
As the subject states I’m torn on this product. The biggest reason for that is the price! $44 for 5.1 fluid ounces is quite high if you ask me! I think the product is quite nice in most respects but I can’t really justify spending that kind of money on a product like this. If you can, keep that in mind when you read this review.I shave using a double edged razor (DE) and shave soap in the shower. I don’t have to shave every day but I do have very sensitive skin so I select my products carefully. Typically I use Nivea aftershave balm as a whole face lotion every day as it’s thin enough to only need a small amount for my whole face to keep moisturized. When I do shave I typically apply Proraso aftershave balm to my beard & mustache area and then moisturize the rest of my face with the same application. The Nivea is quite thin, the Proraso balm is quite a bit thicker but still runny, and this product is thick like a hand lotion. In fact, the product comes in a hand lotion style pump applicator. One thing that I HATE about these types of pump applicators is how there is always a residual bit of lotion in the pump when you’re done using it and the next time you go to use it your first pump has that crusty bit of lotion at the beginning that you have to wipe onto a tissue to dispose of. The other thing that I hate about pumps like this is you’re going to inevitably leave quite a bit of product at the bottom of the bottle where the pump’s tube can’t reach. At $44 a tiny bottle both of these annoyances turn into quite the loss of money! On the plus side of this being a thick lotion and less of a runny balm, is that you don’t need very much to go a long way. The Amazon description states three pumps but I am good with one large pump or perhaps two small pumps. Either way this goes on very thick much like a thick hand lotion. If I’m honest, I’m not sure I’m crazy about this fact either. Maybe I’m just biased from using the balms for over a decade now, but I didn’t quite like how thick it was and how I had to really keep rubbing it in my face for it to feel dry and non-lotion like. The more I rubbed the more irritated my shaved face got so I didn’t care for that.I also wasn’t crazy about the smell of the product. It didn’t have a bad smell or anything repulsive, it just smelled very clinical or doctors office like. Sort of like an unscented hand lotion or even slightly like a sunscreen lotion might smell. Again, not unpleasant, just not appealing to me.Wow, as I write this review and hear myself critiquing it I’m starting to think I just plain old don’t care for it. Add to that the $44 price tag and I’m inclined to give this 3-stars from my initial thought of 4-stars.If you’re used to a product like this and don’t mind spending close to the cost of an actual DE razor on just one bottle of face cream, then have at it! As for me, I think I’ll stick to my regimen of Nivea and Proraso.I hope this review was helpful to you. Happy shaving!

A great lotion.
Murdock London's Post Shave Balm comes in a small plastic bottle with a locking pump on top. The balm is thick and rich and has a pleasant musky scent to it, which definitely leans towards the masculine. I use this balm on my neck and cheeks after shaving. I also use it all over my face after I've been in the sun for a while. A little bit of this balm goes a long way and it feels cooling and soothing when applied to the skin. I also will just occasionally use it as a lotion whenever my skins feels dry and tight. It has given me no issues with skin irritation or rashes. All in all... a great balm.
