The Jungle Bunch: The Movie [DVD]

We discovered this movie in the previews of another movie that my son had. I'm surprised I missed it when it came out because it is really fun! We bought it when my son was three and he loved it! Briefly, the "tiger-penguin" was raised by a tiger (he's actually a penguin, but doesn't know it) and taught to hunt and be a "fierce warrior." His fighting techniques look like karate or judo to me, although it's difficult to tell on a penguin. John Lithgow is perfect for this character.Mean walruses take over a penguin colony in Antarctica, so two young penguins journey to ask the legendary warrior to help them. He assembles a band of fellow "warriors" that agree to journey and oust the walruses and free the penguins. The music and story line remind me of the "Three Amigos" (Chevy Chase, Martin Short, and Steve Martin). The animation is good and the story is well-written.The language is appropriate for young children. Some of the fighting is a bit too much, in my opinion, especially when the gorilla pounds walruses. Because he is so human-like, it looks like punching. I know there's a fine line (or no line at all) between punching and karate, but it just looks so much worse when its something a kid could easily copy. The gorilla reminds me of Lenny from "Of Mice and Men." He likes to pound creatures, but doesn't necessarily try to hurt them.The warthog sings everything he says and sounds and acts like Elvis. He is actually a bit annoying, mostly because he doesn't really talk with any melody, but this is really minor. The band also includes two tree frogs who remind me a bit of Bert and Ernie from "Sesame Street," a bush baby, and a fruit bat (who is afraid of the dark and gets vertigo). Overall, it's a really fun movie and my son still loves it a year later.

My 19 month old really enjoys watching this film. It's colorful and has plenty of animals to point out and learn. We don't allow too much screen time for our child but this makes the cut during some mornings when I am getting ready for work and baby needs a few moments to rouse from his warm sleep. This movie is entertaining, but calm for the morning time or on a long car ride when nap time is upon us...no super loud music or banging, which we like.

Not sure why my 4yr old likes this but he does. Not something I could sit all the way through but gave me a chance to get other things done around the house...proved helpful I guess. Still the price was way high I think. Prob Won't rent again

This is the story about a penguin who paints himself like a Tiger and thinks he is a tiger. This kids like it but definitely for younger kids (under 5) because I think any older children would find the story to be less than entertaining. The music is not great either. Don't expect a Disney or Dreamworks type of production...but for whatever reason, my litte ones like to watch it.

Grandson loves Jungle Bunch and he will sit and watch this which is longer than the 11 minute segments on Demand on Comcast.

Very good movie and great story. My daughter loves it. She watches it all the time.

A fun movie from France, traduced in english. My 5 years old daughter wants to watch the movie over and over again. She loves the pinguin!
