Second investing book to buy. Reading it first
I've always like the Dummy books as I have a few on other industries. I have only read about a chapter or so and really enjoy his examples for comparisons."From a safety point of view, a company’s size and market value do matter. All things being equal, large cap stocks are considered safer than small cap stocks. However, small cap stocks have greater potential for growth. Compare these stocks to trees: Which tree is sturdier, a giant California redwood or a small oak tree that’s just a year old? In a great storm, the redwood holds up well, whereas the smaller tree has a rough time. But you also have to ask yourself which tree has more opportunity for growth. The redwood may not have much growth left, but the small oak tree has plenty of growth to look forward to."Very simple example but it gets the point across. This book is great for all investors as it helps you use it for resources no matter where you are in your investing career.

Great insight for beginner stock investor
Prior to this book i had little to no knowledge on the stock market and long term investing. After the advice of a very financially savvy colleague i decided to look more into stock investment as a means to pay off current and future debt. This novel provided a great knowledge basis to a market under utilized by the average person. Additionally, it further served to alter my thinking to focus not just on immediate barriers, but long term concerns and tribulations largely related to financial stability. Though the book isn't long objectively, the novelty of this area of study gave me a challege speeding through it. At times it felt tortuous. However, the real life application and light humor served to push me to stick with the material to the end. Lastly, The author graciously input many different resources to expand upon in the future. This novel is definitely not a stopping point for those interested in this area of study, but is great exposure for those interested in stock investing.

Best investment I've made yet even though I already own a few stocks!
This book will stop you from going broke "if" you read it and abide by it. How much you make off of investments is definitely a very individual, no story will be the same, type of experience. No two people or portfolios are the same. No two people are ready at the same time. But when you are, it's an excellent pick up for the price and I doubt you'll be disappointed. I get more confident and excited with every chapter. Best investment I've made yet even though I already own a few stocks. I regret not reading this book before I made my initial investment. This book should have been my initial investment. I'm pretty sure I'd be hundreds of dollars ahead, if not a couple thousand.

Just What I Was Looking For!
I'm totally a newbie to buying and selling stocks and this book for me has been exactly what I was looking for. A Primer on getting started. I'm about 60 percent finished and have been taking notes in the margins, using highlighters, and Post-It's to mark pages. Even created an Excel spreadsheet to evaluate and assess some potential stocks. I have a long ways to go but this book has been a good start. Steve from LA

GREAT PRIMER!
I usually don't bother to write reviews, but I was so impressed with this one that I felt I had to share. I generally like the Dummies books. They usually accomplish their goal of explaining a topic in easy to understand terms, and this is important to me. I found this to be very true for this book. I knew nothing about the stock market and figured it was about time to find out. This book explained not only the basics but even some more advanced concepts in a very easy to understand manner. Good value. Kudos to the author.

It was OK.
The book I received was actually the 3rd edition. Newer editions may be better. However, the book was mostly filled with what I consider common since information when it comes to personal finances. (Figure up your monthly expenses, ect.) With that being said, its worth a read, as it does contain some good advice. You may, however, want to consider a more advanced book for your money.

A must get for anyone just starting out investing and even for some why I have been in the game a while. This guy really knows what he's talking about
