Caveat emptor
The video quality and the microphone quality on the cameras are good. Setup of the Security 3.0 OPU and cameras was OK. The app functions well. It appears to be necessary for the mobile phone to be connected to WiFi to see the video remotely. The documentation is fraudulent. It says it is possible to have two-way communication via the Twist HD cameras, with both speaker and microphone active simultaneously. That is NOT true. That may not matter too much, because the sound on the camera is unintelligible to the person standing in front of the camera. The person holding the remote mobile phone can hear the person in front of the camera well, but cannot respond. The chat support person I communicated with acknowledged that home8 personnel know of the audio problems of the Twist HD camera. They continue to market them as capable of audio, and they are not. Documentation demonstrates reassigning the camera from the OPU's 2.4GHz WiFi network to another 2.4GHz network. That is NOT true. The cameras see only their own OPU 2.4 GHz network. My dual band WiFi router and the OPU are next to each other. According to the home8 app, the 5GHz signal of my router is stronger than the OPU's, which leads me to want to switch the cameras to the 2.4GHz band on my router, because they cannot connect to 5GHz. But the cameras see only the 5GHz on my router, and their proprietary 2.4GHz network from their own OPU. So again, documentation is fraudulent. Purchasers also should know that although the cameras can accept "up to 64GB" microSD cards, Windows cannot reformat a 64GB card from native exFAT to the required FAT32 format. That requires online search and downloading of an app that will format the card for these cameras. I am stuck in a timing situation that likely will prevent my return of this product and replacement with a better product in time to meet a deadline. After 2 1/2 days of reading online, it appears to me that this industry is very immature, and there are no completely reliable products in this industry. I probably will keep this setup. The video recording is good, and the app appears to work well remotely, as long as the mobile phone is connected to WiFi. Let the buyer beware.

Not a dependable system after only 38 days!!
So I bought this Home8 system with the two twist cameras on December 1, 2017 and purchased extra door/window sensors. Everything was just great until tonight (1-7-18) when the main OPU unit suddenly went offline while my home router continued to work for all my other linked products. No matter how many times I restarted the OPU, it would only go back online for several minutes and then go back offline. Now there is an annoying beeping sound every few minutes. I sent an email to the support address and of course I will probably have to wait several days for a response. I don't know about you, but shouldn't a home security system be dependable? It hasn't even been 60 days and this thing has problems. I will update this posting and report how this company responds to this issue.,

Setup was a little fiddly
Setup went ok, but I had to delete and add back the cameras a couple of times to get them to work even though they were supposedly preinstalled to the hub. I had a helpful online chat with technical service to help with adding my wife as an authorized user with her iPhone. This is one of the few companies that have a Windows 10 Mobile app so I can use my Lumia 950 windows phone. I added two more cameras and a key fob that I bought separately on eBay and three door sensors that I bought here on Amazon. They all were added easily just by scanning the QR codes with my phone. I also purchased a couple of ten foot usb to micro usb cables to reach power outlets and 32g micro sd cards to each camera. The siren is not as loud as I was expecting, but I plan to install a second siren. I also plan to install a motion detector in our first floor master bedroom. I have yet to decide what I am going to do about the cloud service when my free trial is over.

Great layout, good system component selection, but cameras do not work with a Galaxy Note 3.
This was a 5 star product that performed like a 1 star product. So what do you rate it? Some will love it. But for me it just didn't work. The camera would play about 5 seconds then lock up and freeze. This happened especially on my Galaxy Note 3. I called Home8. Their tech support was very good. Their customer and tech support were 5 stars compared to Blink's Security Camera being a complete ZERO. The app was laid out better than any other's I've seen. The system has the right components, but it just didn't work right. I think all of these companies are still in development and we are the guinea pigs. Home8 was great about trying to get it to work and then returning it when it wouldn't for me. So I have to give them some credit of that. The cameras did seem to work ok on my laptop also. Again your milage may vary. The Camera resolution was not as good as the Arlo, or the Blink, but is was viewable. One great thing is being able to connect any of the cameras either to the base station or to any of wifi connection on your network, to get a router that is closer and has a better signal. This was very useful. I think when they get all their firmware and software bugs worked out this will be a great product.

The cameras works great! The picture comes through clear day and night
The cameras works great! The picture comes through clear day and night. I've reviewed the footage of another popular home security and the video footage isn't as clear as the home 8. I highly recommend this product for others to use. The alarm system with alerts work immediately!

Not recommended for Canadians
Having issues linking 2 of the 4 cameras that came with the system. 1 of the 2 I did get working seems to have started working through sheer luck as I tried to pair it multiple times. One of the main reasons I bought this system was the modularity, however Canadians aren't able to buy from their website so I am unable to buy the door and window sensors to extend the system's capabilities. Low light performance of the cameras is weak and if the IR lights hit anything they wash out the entire image.Wouldn't recommend for Canadians, for folks in the US that can extend their system with other components, the low quality cameras may not be a deal breaker.
