FastenMaster Hot Melt FMFLEX180 Hotmelt Adhesive HB220 Glue Gun

This hot melt glue works really well when attaching vinyl plank floor scraps to concrete floors. The scraps were used as temporary clamps to hold vinyl plank flooring courses as the courses were being built out to obtain a stable floor. The scraps were then easily removed with no residue using a floor scraper. Strength of the vinyl floor plank scraps to concrete floor joints was very good with no failures.

These are not your momma's glue sticks! I use these in conjunction with the Fastenmaster HB220 hot glue gun and they deliver a strong bond with an extended time to get things aligned and just right before the glue hardens. These are a must have for anyone that installs laminate or LVP flooring. Check out a YouTube channel called 'so that's how you do that"... Joe is a true blessing to the trades. I was using the cheap plastic spacers to set the first row in my flooring installs... with really poor results. Joe made a video using the fasten master brand gun and sticks to glue down a piece of flooring that doesn't budge... keeping your rows in perfect alignment.... leading to joints that go together easily with minimal tapping and no hammers. I had no idea a glue gun and a pro level glue stick could have that level of adhesion! If you're int he trades.... these glue sticks and the glue gun would be a great addition to your tool box! I will forever buy this brand!

I had a situation where I have travertine behind my quarter round and vinyl plank flooring below. Underneath my vinyl plank flooring, I had used floor leveler, so I could not drive nails. I bought this and put glue on the backside towards the travertine and after putting in place, and holding it for about 15 seconds and held rock solid. Really a great option and I was surprised how well it held onto the travertine.There is a guy who does videos on vinyl plank flooring, “this is how you do that“ and he recommended this glue as he is a contractor for vinyl plank flooring.

If you are used to the poor performance of a regular glue gun and glue sticks then you will be as surprised as I was with the performance of this glue and of course the glue gun/guns required for its use. This glue requires a really robust gun to heat and apply the glue, but the power of the bond between concrete and wood flooring or the bond created between wood and wood is nothing short of amazing. I read where some contractors are using this to put down tack strips and then stretching carpet against these strips and thought that perhaps they were stretching the truth, but true to their reviews this glue system does have the strength to bond many items that any previous glue and gun I have owned would not have even been a consideration. Hot glue from the gun gives you about 2.5 minutes to work with and position an item before it cures. It seems to full cure in about 4 minutes. Great stuff

I'm not sure it works any better than any other glue stick. There does seem to be a little longer working time, but I'm not sure there is any more bonding power.

I wasn't sure about hot glue sticks since I have tried the basic hot glues at the hardware store and also the polyurethane hot melt cartridges and this stuff lands right in the middle. It has high strength with wood much more than old school hot glue. Not as strong as the polyurethane but its strong enough.

I actually don't know the effectiveness or longevity of this glue. My biggest put off was people and manufacturer saying it needs a HIGH efficiency heat gun to work. So i was thinking industrial strength heat gun. Well it worked just fine in my 18v RYOBI cordless heat gun. I have not tried it in it's smaller cousin, that uses the same size of glue sticks, but smaller.

Used these to help set a kitchen island and will be using as well for starting a laminate floor. I used the Arrow GT300 glue gun and they worked well together. Did not need to purchase the more expensive gun.
