Sometimes though, the resistance of a wider band is just too great unless it is also a bit thinner than the narrower band that it is replacing. Users, including personal trainers, are generally unaware that big-loop bands ( of nominal circumferences 82" to 84.5" ) are actually available in FOUR different thickness standards: 5mm, 4.5mm, 4mm, and 3mm. Mind you that 4.5mm is by far the most commonly available, and 3mm is very rare. I already had in possession all thicknesses, except for that last one. So I spent hours on Amazon searching and posting Qs before discovering these from Fitness Insanity. Understandably, I'm delighted that after obtaining these 3mm bands I've finally completed the fulfillment of my big-loop needs. :-)This begs the question : Why aren't others also seeking more than one thickness ? Mainly because of their common usage for light workouts. The typical user desires merely not to become less fit, and / or has little knowledge about resistance training in general. Thus, they have minimal requirements. But personal trainers of high performance clients should know better !Users who are serious about improving skeletal muscle power or improving cardio fitness via high intensity interval training need to "dial in" precisely the right resistance, which must be readjusted ( increased by a small increment ) every week or two. They require a far greater number of resistance selections than the mere 4-7 bands included in sets offered by at least 70 different brands ( at last count ) of products similar to this one. Imagine if all commercial weight resistance machines had only 4-7 settings ? Or that all barbell sets had only 4-7 combinations of weight to choose from ?This set also includes an exercise guide illustrating 46 different configurations. There is also a wall poster included, showing 45 of those same exercises.About MeYou might say that I'm an expert when it comes to elastic resistance training. Long before I purchased this item I had been working out in my home with various types of elastic bands and tubing; almost 8 years of broad experience. I eventually quit visiting commercial gyms in favor of my two regular routines, which now comprise a total of 33 different elastic resistance exercises ( soon to be expanded to 37 ).
