ECOLUX SMD5630 Warm white 16.4Ft 5M 300LEDs LED Strip Light Kit Waterproof IP65 DC12V 60LEDs/m 2 times brightness than 5050 LED Tape Light 5630 LED Ribbon with 6A power supply

I ordered 3 sets of these lights. I have worked with the brand DiodeLED in the past (excellent product but 4 times more expensive) so I thought I would give these a try. On the first kit I opened the cordset that connected the powersupply to the 110v line voltage had a broken wire in it and was non-op. The second problem was that the strip of lights appears to be made out of random lengths of pieces spliced together. You can tell by the solder joints that show from the front. Even the "water resistant coating" is compromised. One of the pieces had a "solder tail" poking thru the back that shorted out against an aluminum backing sheet, and was the devil to find. I am imagining that someone probably scored a bunch of pieces and this product is someones craftwork over in China. If you are thinking that you can lay strips of these side by side and keep the lights lined up, the splicing seems to throw off the spacing. The color of the light is probably closer to 3400k (starting to get a little blue - closer to daylight) than the warm white 2800-3000k they claim. My biggest gripe is that they dont list the load per foot (or meter if you prefer). If you are combining lights you need to know this. Other manufacturers print this on the bag that it comes in. The suitability of your transformer size depends on this info. Everything electrical that is "listed" needs to have a connected load rating. If you need to show an inspector the listing that they claim to have you would not be able to find it. It isn't on the packaging or the strip.These are tantalizingly close to looking like the real thing but miss by a few frustrating details. Buy these if you have a higher capacity for troubleshooting but a low value of what your time is worth.

These are wonderfully bright. I am using them under the cabinets so that I have plenty of light on the counter. This makes our kitchen work so much better.
