Coconut cream pie with this was delicious

Perfect quality to recreate the Cuban pastry I fell in love with on my vacation to Florida. For my next trick, I’ll use this to make a great homemade Almond Joy!

When I ordered this I didn't know it would come in a can packed in heavy syrup. I thought it was going to be that dry type of coconut. Live and learn.The first ingredient is sugar. That means there's more sugar than coconut (the second ingredient). The third ingredient is corn syrup. They add that to prevent the sugar from crystallizing. Last on the list is water, just enough so it doesn't form a solid mass.I haven't opened it yet. I got it to make a fruit cake that calls for grated coconut. The recipe is from the 30s so I don't know if this is what they had in mind. If the can is full of worms or something I'll edit my review. Who knows? It might be exactly what I want in which case I'll adjust the 4 stars to 5.

It is really good, but a little pricey... $4 a can would be the normal I think. I first bought it in a store for about $4

The grated coconut can did not show in description in tiny print in heavy syrup. Bad marketing. Purchase was for baking coconut bars.
