Great Bag, w/ Unusual Fasteners
Great bag with plenty of space and compartments for cords, external drive(s), mouse, tablet, etc. My 15" MBP w/ Retina fits nicely without too much wiggle room.My only criticism of the bag is that the fastener for the front flap can only be "unfastened" using a particular motion--sliding the top part directly to the left while sliding the bottom part to the right. It's a very simple motion once you get used to it. Unfortunately, it's not at all intuitive. I was so concerned about someone in my household breaking it while struggling to open it that I had to teach them all the proper way to do it. At the very least, the manufacture should have some type of visual cue printed or molded to the fastener (e.g., a left-facing arrow).Other than that one minor detail, I am very happy with my purchase.

Fidlocks are amazing but overall quality isn't
My first impression of this bag was extremely positive. It had a unique design that facilitated convenience, and the fidlocks were far superior to regular plastic buckles. However, over the course of the last year, I've noticed a number of drawbacks. Firstly, the bag is not waterproof or even water resistant. I was caught in a sudden, severe rainstorm this summer and my phone suffered severe rain damage, despite the fact that I'd stored it in my bag and was outside for ~2 minutes. The other items I had stored deep within my bag were damp if not outright wet. I don't live in a particularly rainy climate, but I get nervous whenever I have this bag in the rain. The material is ill-suited to the elements. The second major drawback is the quality of the materials. When I first bought the bag, the top front pocket's zipper would stick frequently. Within a month of buying it, the bag's gray fabric had begun tearing away from that zipper. I contacted the company and received a replacement (incidentally, they had great customer service--very quick to respond and very accommodating), assuming that the tear was simply caused by excessively pulling on the sticking zipper. However, after nine months, the replacement bag (which did not have the sticking-zipper issue) experienced the same problem. The fabric again tore away from the top front zipper, despite gentle use. I knew when I first received the bag that the outer gray material was not of the highest quality (it's thin, rough, and not durable), but I didn't expect it to tear from regular use.Having said all that, the fidlocks are amazing, and hands down my favorite feature on this bag. Unlike regular plastic buckles, they often lock into place on their own, and if not, it's exceedingly simply to lock them (place the top part in close vicinty with the bottom, and it will snap together magnetically). With plastic buckles, I'm always worried I'll pinch my fingers. Moreover, once you get a hang of unlocking them, the fidlocks are very simple to open (though they will trip up anyone not familiar with your bag). The fact that the fidlocks are such an improvement over regular buckles has been a problem for me. Given the issues with waterproofing and material quality, I have no choice but to buy a new bag. However, after being spoiled by fidlocks, which are exclusive to Altego, I can't imagine going back to plastic buckles. Unless I can make some sort of frankenstein creation that sews the fidlocks onto another bag, I'll have to get used to plastic buckles again...ugh. Alternatively, if Altego made a bag that solved the issues with waterproofing and fabric quality, I'd be the first to buy it.Pros:-Fidlocks(!)-Completely separate laptop compartment-Unique style/accents-Ample padding in laptop and tablet compartmentsCons:-Not waterproof or water-resistant at all-Poor fabric quality causes tearing/stitches to unravel over time**I have attached a photo of the tearing on my first bag. The tearing that has occurred on my replacement bag is actually much worse (likely because I continued to use it after it began tearing), but I don't have a camera handy at the moment.

Happy with the purchase
Exactly as I expected it to be. Well made. Wish there was another color choice in the same model, it's not the most feminine (although I'm not looking for girly, necessarily)

Poor quality....
OK, the bag looks great. HOWEVER, after using it ONE time the 'cool' clip used to attach the shoulder strap broke. So, I have a messenger bag without a strap (worthless). I sent the company an email message and didn't get a response. So, a few days later I called and left a message and still didn't hear back. So in a nutshell, a nice looking bag poorly made with bad customer service.

I love this bag
I love this bag. I bought it especially for a Transatlantic flight and it was really worth it. Easy access to everything I needed and it is nice too look at. The magnetic closure is genius!

A pleasant surprise.
I'm a long-time Mac user, as well as a Tom Bihn (tombihn.com) fan. For the last while, I've been searching for a messenger bag that has style as well as protection- a balance of form and function. Almost every bag I've looked at either had too much style and not enough protection (various leather messengers as well as most of all laptop messengers), or too much protection and not enough style (Tom Bihn). I took a chance on the Altego because I wasn't too sure how I'd feel about the bright orange accents or the polygon foam design on the back. Now that I've received it however, I can say that without a doubt, I am very satisfied. The laptop compartment offers sufficient protection, and I like the soft orange and black inner lining. The outside ripstop nylon fabric is a perfect weight- not too light and not too heavy. All of the zippers glide with ease, the magnetic clips in the front are great and there's plenty of room in the main compartment. The Napoleon pocket in the front is nice too. All of the pros of the bag definitely outweigh the cons in my opinion. There're only a few critiques that I'd offer Altego. First, most of the stitching around the bag is single stitching, which over time may be a factor affecting the bag's longevity. Second, I don't really like the seatbelt style shoulder strap; I just think it looks tacky. Third, while the two large pockets in the main compartment are nice, I don't like the small amount of velcro that keeps the pocket closed; I'd like a greater amount of velcro or different option altogether to keep those pockets secured. And finally, while the laptop portion is protected well on the outside with the polygon foam , the inner lining could be a little thicker– maybe 1/8" for both the computer liner as well as the liner surrounding the iPad compartment.I've only had the bag ~30 minutes, so I will update my review when I've had some time to put the bag through it's paces. Overall, I'd give Altego Channel Polygon Sunfire messenger bag a 4.5 out of 5 stars due to the few cons I mentioned, but I wouldn't give it a 5 as it is currently implemented. Therefore, a four star rating it shall be.
