Awesome Jeans...The "511" Look for Bigger Guys!
Just got these 513's in the Bastion color, which is a perfect Dark Blue, and so far I am VERY happy with them! They solved every issue I was experiencing with the 511's... Backstory: I have a friend who has gone completely "hipster" in his style these past few years and he recently decided that every groomsman in his wedding, which includes me, should adhere to the same trendy "hipster" (aka: "anorexic lumberjack") theme with tweed vests, moc-toed brown boots, as much facial hair as possible and, the icing on the "hipster" cake, Levi's 511 "Slim" cut jeans. Now, don't get me wrong, the 511s look great on him and really do work for his style. But he's 5'8" and 155 lbs. Those same jeans don't look nearly as attractive on my larger 6'4" 235lb frame. In fact, the 511s on me look like 510 skinny (aka: "hey little sis, can I borrow your pants?") jeans do on him. My build is quite average and I don't really have a belly or lots of "extra" padding anywhere. Despite this, the 511s were extremely tight everywhere and gave me a certifiable plumber's crack when standing that left me afraid to move in any direction. The 511s seemed to be a full size or two smaller in the waist than tagged, but a 38, which I usually wear in all my pants including my other Levi's, is the largest waist available in a 34" inseam without resorting to a budget-shattering custom order. What's more, the exaggerated "carrot" (big on top, small on bottom) shape that the 511s gave me made my wife laugh out loud when she saw them There was no way I was going to stand in front of 200 people looking that way! Enter the Levi's 513... This is what "Slim" jeans were meant to be for those of us who feel we need to shoe-horn the 511s over our feet, calves and thighs. The 513s maintain a very similar shape to the 511, but are about 10% more forgiving in all the areas that count. These are still very much "low rise", but I found the cut of the 513's backside to be far more comfortable and confidence-inspiring. It single-handedly erased the concerns I had over there being a "full moon" on the wedding night. The thighs and seat are snug and trim against the body like the 511s, but (at least with the "Bastion" version I received) the top half of the jean is much more conducive to normal human movement without sacrificing the overall "slim" appearance. The most obvious difference compared to the 511s is in the area below the knee. The upper legs definitely taper in at the knee, but do not hug the knees as tightly as the 511s. With the "straight" bottoms, there is far less taper through the calves and the leg opening at the ankle is slightly larger than on the 511, but not nearly as big as most other Levi's styles. Fortunately, my naturally thicker calves fill out the bottom of the 513s well and, as such, visually retains most of that "tapered" look of the 511 without being nearly as constrictive in use. All in all, I declare the 513 cut to be the "Slim" jean solution for the big guys. If the 511s fit you like denim-infused plastic wrap, give the 513s a try! And, Chris, if you're reading this, know that I still love you, your questionable taste in wedding outfits and your meticulously groomed facial hair. With the pants out of the way, I can finally look forward to the wedding with confidence that I won't look any worse than I have to! Conclusion: Levi's 513s ROCK! Highly Recommended!

Best Jeans I think I have ever owned but the jury is still out.
I have never owned a decent pair of jeans. I am 31 and 5'8" and 190-200lbs depending on how much I work out. Larger thighs and wide ass. I have recently been wearing Levis 514s for the past two years or so in a 36Wx30L with the "stretch" / elastane in them. Well I had two pairs of those that I felt fit great and two that felt kinda frumpy when I wore them. Eventually the two I liked wore out in the inner thigh region and it was time to get some new jeans. I have been working out more recently and felt that I was swiimming in the two frumpy pair of 514s that I had.. . So I went to a local retailer Kh... and started to try on jeans. I started with the 511s to try them out and no way could I wear them. Way to tight on me. Then onto the good old 514s in a 34Wx30L however none of the pairs there had the "Stretch" feature. The pants fit however I felt llke I was going to rip the crotch out if I squatted down. I didnt even try the 514s in 36Wx30L because I wanted something more fitting on the rear end.. So I moved onto the 513s in a 34Wx30L. The majority of these pairs have the "stretch" quality which is perfect for me. They hug my thighs but are not too tight and they are a little more slim on the lower leg than the 514s which is a nice feel. When I squat down the jeans stretch a bit and I do not feel like I am going to rip out of them. Overall I feel like a new man in the 513s compared to the previous 514s I had. So I bought two pair at the retailer (only washes they had) and proceeded Amazon for more washes. I ordered an additional 6 pairs all 34Wx30L. After washing and drying on low heat the first two pairs from the retailer I can say that they did not shrink any if at all that I can really tell. They just fit really well. I am actually thinking about going to try on 32Wx30L at the store just to ease my mind that I am in the right size. I say this because after I brought the first two pair at the retailer I went home and actually measure my waist line with a body tape and my waist is actually a 36.25" according to a measurement yet these 34Wx30s fit pretty damn near perfect. Because of this I have not washed the additional 6 pairs I have received from amazon just yet however they all seem to fit well except one pair. The only pair I bought that was 100% cotton was the Blue Nirvana wash. They fit a bit snug on me compared to the other pairs with the "stretch" I may need to return them but I am going to hold on to them for a few weeks to see how they feel if I keep losing weight.. All in all I am pretty happy with the 513s. I even ordered Lucky 221 in 34Wx30L because no retailer seemed to have them in stock for me to try on. I would say they are comparable to each other with the 513s being slimmer in the lower leg. Update: After continuing to lose some weight I feel like these 34Wx30L are really more like 36Wx30L. I tried an additional wash and dry cycle on higher heat hoping to shrink them just a bit but they did not shrink any I could tell. I will be returning the additional pairs that I had purchased and going to try one 33W or even possibly a 32W to see what fits best. I feel like they run a bit large and a little saggy in rear end.

Levi Quality at a Fair Price, But Watch for Threads and Lint
FINAL VERDICT These jeans are the classic Levi’s that fit as expected and are very high quality; compared to any other place online, the price point (when there are price drops) of these jeans is outstanding. However, a couple loose threads at the bottom of the jeans make me worry about the longevity. DETAILED REVIEW: The Good: Shipment: The jeans arrived in a neat, undamaged box, with accurate shipping time. Fit: The jeans fit exactly as expected based on typical jeans sizing, for me. I got a 30x30 in the “Bastion” color – highly recommend the color for a classy casual look. Value: At this price point, this jeans are a steal. Watch out for intermittent price drops that make these jeans unbeatable. The Bad: Loose threads in the seam: After a couple uses, I noticed a couple loose threads in the seam of the jeans. I worry about the longevity but hope that a couple threads won’t cause an issue. Lint Attraction: A dog owner, this jeans do unfortunately catch a lot of dog hairs and lint. Not a total dealbreaker, but something to keep in mind.

MY FAVORITE JEAN EVER, AND HERE'S WHY>>>
these are the best jeans ever, especially for someone who grew up as a teen in the 1960s. these are akin to slimmer fit version of 501s that had a zipper. most of us in middle school wore these until '68 and later when bells and boot cut took over. alas, i'm a product of my formative years so while i wear the levi slim bootcut with boots, i wear these for all other wear with either dressy shoes, or super casual, depending on the denim wash you get, these can take you to an expensive dining evening, or playing basketball. i have 2 pair that cover that range with different washes. i will say the waist size varies up to almost an inch at times, but that doesn't really matter. the last pair i got came a bit tighter, but these stretch so after a few wearings they stretched out to perfect. this pair came at about the waist size of my other pair AFTER it stretched, which is fine. they both are the same size. my other pair has a lighter/more worn wash, these are dark with almost no wash to them, for dressing up. they aren't 'skinny' jeans, but just tapered along those mid 1960s lines so they fit low on the waist and slim in the hips and legs, but aren't tight from the knees down, just a nice taper. this model, 513, is not usually made visible on the levi website, and you have to know about them or you won't really find them, but after 501s they are the iconic style of the 1960s...they are technically called 'slim straight fit', which is what they are. straight fit, just a bit lower waisted and slimmer in fit. best of the best. as said, waist fit is not horribly critical as long as you get close. i'd get them snug as they do stretch out to fit. however, i've found that like all clothes these days, maybe it's ego gratification for customers, but what used to be a 33 waist is now a 32. in all other jeans or pants i take a 33 waist. i took a 32 in junior high. i bought these in 32 waist...i think they are just stroking my ego with that. but if it helps you pick your right size, i share it.

Amongst the Best in the Wardrobe
I have a number of jeans in my wardrobe but only one pair of black jeans and they are the Levi's 513. I did a lot of research and even a few returns until I came across the 513's. As soon as I put these bad boy's on, I loved them right away. The cut and style of these jeans fit me so well. They outline my body well by staying fit around the hips and thighs but not like the skinny fit. Rather, this style takes on a more relaxed snug-look, which are very comfortable. However, my favorite part of the jeans is the taper. They taper down perfectly and work well with sneakers, lace-up boots, chukkas, oxfords...whatever. Although, I love the color of the deep midnight black, I found that there is a drawback to the black. It attracts and shows all the hairs and debris you pickup wherever you go. To combat this, I picked up a boars hair, lint brush and it helps to reduce all the stuff I picked up throughout the day. In fact, if you haven't bought a lint brush, I would highly suggest grabbing one if you are serious about your clothes. Anyway, just a tid-bit...I wouldn't wash your jeans too often. Unless you really soil them, they don't need to be washed as much as you may think. It kinda seems like backwards thinking but it's denim and they don't require constant washing. When you do wash them, turn them inside out and wash with dark or like colors with a detergent that isn't harsh or will strip the color out. I am all about caring for my things, especially my clothes and getting the longest mileage out of them. ~Hope this review helps

best jeans i've ever owned, maybe the last? who knows
These are the best jeans in the world in my opinion for the following reasons: 1. the elastic or whatever it is that makes them stretch (and still feel like denim). It's amazing. When I gain a bunch of weight, it gets tough to buy waist sizes in jeans that aren't super baggy for me. These clear it up. My weight jumps around a lot and I've been ordering these jeans (and only these jeans) for like 6 or 7 years now. They stretch with me. If you lose weight, shrink them down by washing. 2. they look like normal jeans. Not skinny jeans (I have nothing against them, I would just look like a dork. Or like more of a dork), not super baggy jeans. Just straight up normal jeans. All I ever wanted in life was to be a guy with normal jeans. And now I am. I even cuff them and they look fine. 3. they last. This is where it gets gross for normal people. I look back through my Amazon orders and I order a new pair every year/year and a half maybe. That might not seem like a long time for a good pair of jeans...but hear me out: I only own one pair of jeans at a time...and I pretty much refuse to wash them. I told you I was gross.

Best Jeans Ever!
Previously had regular fit and relaxed fit jeans with and without bootcut. But styles change and I needed a new fresh look so my friend recommended Levi 513's. Bought 2 pairs, a dark and a lighter wash. Excellent shipping speed, Amazon always seems to deliver anything I order within a week even if I choose the cheapest slowest shipping option. Never having owned a pair of Levi's, I feel I have been missing out. These are probably the best fitting, most comfortable jeans I have ever worn, and for the price it totally beats out high end designer brands I have been wasting my money on for years. I usually wear these on the weekend to casual outings, bar, movies, going out on the town what have you. What surprised me the most is how elastic the denim is. Every pair of jeans I ever bought was fairly rough and stiff and there is a break in period but these felt broken in as soon as I wore them, not baggy or ridged... Extremely comfortable. People should know before buying the 513's is they are SLIM FIT. The leg opening is small so it gives you that "skinny" look but still the fabric does not hug your skin, the waist fits comfortable and is not tight. If you have really skinny legs and want something that hugs your legs then you want the 512's which is SKINNY. Curious thing about the jeans is I bought a similar pair from Nordstrom, a dark blue with black threading (although 35$ more) but the material was denim but very stiff and hard, so I decided to return them. All in all, great jeans, great price, great fit.
