Epic Encounters: Swamp of the Hydra RPG Fantasy Roleplaying Tabletop Game with HUGE Boss Miniature, Double-Sided Game Mat, & Game Master Adventure Book with Monster Stats, 5E Compatible

I'm not normally one for a 5 star review, if indeed I review at all.This was a test purchase before buying others and for the price, this is great.The model is huge and detailed, the goblin tokens are useful, the encounter booklet detailed and scalable for different levels. Small but important addition is a head tracker token, which is brilliant.For running the encounter, it comes with legendary actions and lair actions. There's also a strategy guide. It tells you what to use or miss for different level tiers of play. It's all very clearly written and easy to run.Bad points? Not many. The rear legs on mine aren't quite perfectly aligned (these are a separate piece glued to the main body) but you have look hard to notice that and if painted wouldn't show at all.The map is a bit ill defined and could make the lair actions a little confusing, but I think that's as much the fact it is a swamp than anything else.Neither of those are major, especially at the price so I can't mark down from 5 stars. Consider it a 97 or 98 out of 100Overall I'm keen to invest in some more if only for the minis and the tokens. I'm debating the dragon or the giant next.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this for use with a custom Kobold idea and it certainly has stage presence!The quality is superb (as you come to expect from steamforge) and the mat and booklet are of great quality too.The booklet provided gives you all the rules needed to run this in a 5e game and even gives you advice on how to play it.The only gripe I have is that the map isnt the clearest (only because of the location choice) when you compare it to say the kobold set, however this doesn't detract from the quality of the product.Although this is supposed to be used as the boss encounter for their goblin set I think with artistic licence (same for all the other sets in my opinion) this can be used in conjunction with any of the other 'minion'setsAll in all a superb product that I highly recommend. Keep up the good work Steamforge!

Brought for my husband. Its really good. He's looking forward to painting it and using it.

This has been one of my favourite model to paint in the 16 years I've been painting. The details on it are clear with vines wrapped around the body and the heads facing in all directions.The only issue I had is some of the pieces aren't connected properly, but 5 minutes with some filler cleared it up nicely

Really good model, the maps are cool and the book is full of some extra actions the hydra could take which is brilliant, the extra hydra stats are also useful.Small note if you're getting the model to paint, it's a little awkward in places trying to get your brush under parts as the stand doesn't come off. The images are of the model after I've painted it tho I'm still new at painting so sure some of you can do alot better

This is a nice, dynamically posed figure, with good detail and a clean cast. Given a wash and drybrush of appropriate colours, and this figure will look excellent.The plastic used to cast the figure is hard, but not brittle. I saw no casting lines, or any need to clean up any molding marks. The scaling is to 25mm.

A really well presented box set, that includes a large miniature (oxymoron right) a double sided battle map and an adventure. Alongside some tokens (the hydra head counter token is my favourite).It is all of great quality and the sculpt is amazing. Can't wait to put my players through it.

I collect a mixture of different minatures from a variety of manufacturers and have been impressed by this product. Usually when I have used a hydra for games the miniature has never lived up to the epic level of the encounter. This one does making my games significantly more engaging and thrilling.

Really enjoyed painting this one. Beast of a model, details were decent, primed well, no building involved. Enjoyed reading the included lore book, really helped to create the base.

I buy epic encounters all the time and this was by far the worst one. Large seams and not as much detail as the others I've purchased
