You get one try, consistency is very tricky
I bought two boxes. The instructions are terrible. 'Dont use too warm of water or wont set, dont use too cold of water or will set too fast, has to be cake batter consistency', yet cake batter can be thick or thin. The instructions say not to wait more than 2 minutes after pouring the mixture or it sets too fast. I thought I made the plaster too thin with the first box because I think I used too warm of water and so when I poured it, it really was not setting, it stayed liquidy. I tried the second box and I made it with mild temperature water, and that made the mixture a bit more thick. The thicker mixture literally did not work and ended up in the garbage. Placing the hand in it would pull the plaster upward and it just did not set. It was too sticky. I tried to remix it with more water, did not work. The first box I did where I thought I messed up the mixture and made it too liquidy, well I let it sit for about 30 or so minutes and it was perfect, and so I was able to put my child's hand in and lift his hand without it pulling up the plaster. It's expensive if you mess up. I'm out 10$ for the box that did not work. I will not buy again, but I am excited for my child to paint his handprint plate tomorrow when it's fully set.
