The water soluble one (blue) was what I recently used for a sashiko template. A fabric marking tool that is easy to use and stays put until you want to remove it. I have hated all the marking pens I've tried, and was defaulting to chalk, which has its own challenges... I bought these and I love them. They write on a variety of fabrics easily because they are felt tip, the light blue color is easy to see on most fabrics, it doesn't bleed through fabric, it doesn't transfer onto your hands like other markers/pens, or even sharpie can on fabrics like felt, and it's easy to remove. The line is not as fine as I would like, and the ink bleeds A LOT depending on the fabric, but there is still a clearly distinguishable line to work with. I mostly work with silk so cutting out patterns with all the pinning and shifting usually makes me want to tear my hair out! These little beauties made the process SO much easier. On my first try I used the pen rather liberally and post construction was nervous that all of the ink would not come out of a cream colored crepe de chine garment that appeared to have trapped some of the pigment in the seams, but after one wash there were no traces of the pen at all.
