Great travel guide to Thailand
This was a gift for daughter and her boyfriend who are traveling to Thailand. They were very happy to receive this.

Just returned from a trip to Thailand and Cambodia, and this guide was very helpful, especially the historical perspective of many of the sites we visited. It also helped us plan the itinerary for many days of travel.

Very useful info, including on somewhat less popular parts of Thailand. Used it for a 2 week trip to Thailand with a brief stay at Angkor in Cambodia.

Great Guide
This was a great guide to start planning a trip. The maps are also a good way to look at information.

PERFECT for my trip! I used this guide for my 1 month stay in SE Asia! Gave great hotel recommendations too. Would highly recommend this book!

For older, less adventurous tourists.
Fodor's guide tend to be a bit conservative and mainstream, compared to Lonely Plant, Rough Guide, etc. This one is no different and seems targeted towards older, less adventurous tourists. For instance, they only list one lodging option in the backpacker/budget-friendly Khao San Road area (which probably has a few dozen options). Most of the listings are in the higher-priced tier. It's similar for food - while they address street food and do have some budget options, most dining options are in the $$$-$$$$ category. These places tend to be for tourists, rather than locals. In terms of areas of coverage, they list all the popular spots (beaches, Phuket, Chiang Mai), but completely neglect Isan, in northeast Thailand which borders Laos and Cambodia. So if you're actually going from Thailand to Laos or Cambodia, they recommend flying and don't list overland options that actually take you there through Isan. Isan is one of the most culturally unique parts of Thailand, but you wouldn't know that from this book.

Fodor's Best Travel Books
Very helpful for trip planning for first time travelers. Might be the more expensive and extensive book but worth it.
