Ball head separated from the tripod!
So I was loving using this tripod, small and lightweight, fits in my camera bag rather than outside it. Then using it recently I moved it by lifting from the head or camera itself and the whole ball head pulled out from the tube nearly resulting in dropping my beloved A7RIV camera.. now baring in mind you are supposed to be able to put a camera upside down I wouldn't trust it not to fall apart and drop the camera! It just appears to be glued into the carbon fibre tube with no other support!I looked at so many alternatives and ended up with Vanguard as they have a good reputation for making quality goods! I'm now not sure what to believe.. it's only just out of the return date so need to speak to Amazon about getting it replaced.. needless to say I'm disappointed as I really wasn't expecting that to happen..Seriously be careful with your expensive camera on this as it's relying on some glue to not fall off the tripod!!***** UPDATE *****I contacted Vanguard and they were quick to ask to send this one back to them and they was fairly quick in sending a new one out. It was clear on the new one there is a small 'pin' to hold the head secure into the tripod which was pushed all the way in on the faulty one.. In short good customer service so I'm happy again!

Lightweight and quality construction. Took on a trip to France quick and easy set up.

Light and compact
It was great to take this on my travels, when I needed a tripod for one part of the trip and so wanted to limit the weight for the rest of the holiday. One needs to appreciate its limitations as it is not as sturdy but I felt it was worth it for the compact size and weight. Took me a long time to decide on the lightest one for travel and this seemed to fit the bill for me.

You may need to replace the ballhead.
The tripod itself is really good. I bought it and also a Vanguard camera travel shoulder bag that has an interior compartment that holds this this tripod. My only complaint is that the head doesn't retract far enough to allow me to load a camera with any of my arca type QR plates. This was frustrating when I arrived at a location to use the camera with a telephoto lens with a fitted foot and one of my QR plates. The QR plate couldn't be fitted to the ballhead. As a result, I had to shoot handheld and couldn't take any of my planned long exposures. The trip was pretty much a write-off. I have since tried the ballhead with several other good quality Swiss arca plates, none of which could be fitted to the ballhead. Vanguard have sent me advice on how to remove the ballhead so that I can fit my Benro ballhead, which is heavier and bulkier, but will mean no more wasted journeys.

It's OK, yet not as good as I had hoped.
I did a lot of research looking at reviews for a lightweight travel tripod. It folds up nicely and small, and it's not too heavy. However it's not really that stable or adjustable, albeit it nicely put together. It will be useful in some circumstances, and it's well reviewed elsewhere. Maybe I'm asking too much? Maybe this is as good as a budget priced lightweight travel tripod gets?
