Huichol Hot Sauce, 6.5 oz.

I bought this sauce after trying it at a Mexican restaurant. I was surprised that it tasted good and had just enough heat. It’s similar to Valentina’s if you like that flavor.

Background, I really like Cholula's which gives you an idea of my desired level of heat. I've tried many alternatives and this is my favorite. Earthy, very flavorful. Nice amount of heat. Really good.

I purchased a good quantity of this hot sauce for the Officer's Mess on my ship. Out of all the hot sauce varieties purchased this past year, this one disappeared very fast and everyone had plenty of good things to say while they were making it vanish. I will definately purchase this again & again. Great tasty, tasty quality for the price. Wish I had their recipe.

The flavor is fairly complex and interesting (especially for the low price). It's good, but I wish it was hotter. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it about a 2 or 3 in terms of perceived heat. For reference, Tabasco is definitely hotter, at about a 4 or 5 on the same scale (the scale being my own taste buds and perception). On thing that's kinda nice is that the heat is all up-front, on the tongue and inside of the mouth - there is virtually no heat at all in the back of the mouth or throat, nor does it linger long after you swallow. Which can be kind of nice if you just want a little bit of zing to balance out other flavors. I mixed some in plain hummus and it was quite good.

It had a nice flavor, but had very little heat and a strong proportion of vinegar and salt. 130mg of sodium for one tablespoon. It also has xantana in it, which is good if you stay constipated. It finally has GOMA in it. In Spanish that means rubber. Goma is also part of the Congo and how they got all that land and people in that little bottle I don't know? So it hss cayenne peppers, a good helping of vinegar, salt, rubber/or a capital in a Provine of the Democratic Republic of Congo and a constipation relief. So be sure to take this to the Congo if travelling there bc you may get a flat tire or become constipated.

I was SO glad to find this hot sauce on Amazon. I used to buy a ton of these when we drove to Rocky Point Mexico from Phoenix. I haven't been there in a while, so NO Huichol Hot sauce for me until I found it here! It makes everything taste great!

I first tried this at a small Mexican food joint and loved it. Couldn't find it at my local grocery stores so turned to the Zon. Good stuff!
