This box is well made and with a good finish, however, it is made from very soft wood, which has a tendency to split and splinter. The hinges are token and will need to be replaced with conventional hinges screwed into place. Owing to the wood being with a tendency to split, the insertion of the one hinge caused the surrounding material to become damaged, leaving the hinge without support. I needed the box urgently, so was able to effect a repair using a 2-part adhesive, which is much stronger than the wood. Had the box been provided with conventional hinges, with screws, it would likely have added £3 to the price. However, it would have excelled in quality. The adage about 'ship and tar' comes to mind.

This is a quite delightful box which can be decorated at will. (and far superior to using some dirt stained, or rusty biscuit tin). The first purchase was for as a medicine box, the second will be for recipes. Use only limited by imagination. Highly recommended.

I had to MacGyver the lid with a piece of ribbon. Meaning I had to modify it by supergluing and I also used a couple of thumb tacks to attach a piece of ribbon to the inside of the box lid and box base. This supports the flimsy hinges that would have broken off very quickly with even slight pressure of the box lid bending back on itself. It’s far from ideal, but I didn’t have time to send it back and all that rigmarole. It should be priced to reflect this makeshift condition at say £3.99 inc. p&p. Update: one of the hinges is hanging off. Give it a miss. It’s not worth it at all.

This is a very nice box. It is unpainted and unvarnished. It seems quite well made. The box is a good size and will take A4 size stuff easily.I intend to first prime the wood exterior and then paint / decorate it with acrylic paint and then finish with a clear varnish. If you (or your children) are into crafts this box will make a lovely project to decorate. A personalised box as a gift is a lovely idea - arty but also practical. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic box! Looks great and is well made. Fast delivery and perfect for what I needed (keepsake box for a memory teddy bear). Easy to personalise but just as nice as it comes. Very good value for money. Will definitely be buying more!

The paint is rather patchy. Also the ribbon at the side designed to hold the lid up has already stretched & the lid just flops back. Very disappointing,

I am delighted with this box in very light wood, which is most attractive. It is not the thickest timber, but plenty sturdy enough for me.

I may just use this for odds and ends in the kitchen cupboard as I do not think it is good enough to be on display but on second thought I am going to return it. I do not like the ribbon stapled on the lid. The hinges quite obviously will not last and the paint work needs a little attention in my view. Most definitely not worth £25.99
