Durable, easy to use.
Bought this for our adopted persian. She hates it. Lol. Our 15 year old short hair loves it. Our 7 year old medium hair isn't to sure about it yet. Our 13 year old Lab mix loves it.Thats a pretty broad range of animals and experiences. The product itself is sturdy, easy to hold, and appears durable. Way more inexpensive than the other offerings. I see no reason to spend more money for a name brand.Bottom line...I would definitely buy again as needed.

ROPO Pet Grooming Rakes, Safety Dematting Comb Double-Sided Brush for Easy Mats & TangleI had not used a grooming rake before our Irish Setter. His coat is very soft and silky with the top shorter and smooth. They have double coat. The hair under his armpits can mat in one day. A mat can usually be pulled apart with a bit of detangler spray. There was a small mat on his neck where the hair is very long and full. It is going to be trimmed so I thought now is a good time. It worked very well. I was worried it would take out too much hair along with the mat. The rake moved thru the mat in a few strokes without pulling. You would never know a mat had been there. I felt in control of the rake and was able to remove some of the old undercoat without taking the new hair. I did not try to remove all the old hair with the rake as I have a deshedding comb for that. I used both sides and they worked equally well. Inside the tines is sharp but the edges are not. The handle is very comfortable to hold and felt good in the hand. I have read so many stories about being careful or you can cut out too much hair or even cut the dog, I was really worried about using this rake. I did go gently at first but soon gained confidence that I could do this safely and not hurt the dog. I am very satisfied with this tool.

Works very well for short hair with minimum matting. Not great for bigger jobs
This works very well for short-haired animals. Somehow, our overly-sensitive cat seems to really enjoy this as a tactile stimulant. The problem appeared when trying this on our 12-year-old Polish Lowland Sheep Dog. She tends to matt underneath her belly, and while there were no issues when this steel brush rubbed against her skin, this did not simply cut through the matts as advertised. It pulls too much and the matts never really go away. It's much better used to prevent matting, but it also takes off a significant amount of fur, so I'm not sure how much preventative maintenance we'll end up using this for.
